Carleton Saxton, Psy D, LP

Dr. Carleton Saxton, PsyD, LP is a licensed psychologist at Essentia Health. He provides therapeutic care for individuals aged seven to 27 of all genders, orientations, and backgrounds. Dr. Saxton has significant experience in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community in the Chicago and Duluth areas. He also works with athletes on performance anxiety. Dr. Saxton's particular areas of interest include gender-affirming care, sexual orientation, athletes, anxiety, autism disorders, depression, attention deficit, behavioral and anger management difficulties, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and some forms of substance abuse. Dr. Saxton approaches therapy from a client-centered perspective and meets each individual where they are at. He also utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy. Dr. Saxton grew up in Colorado and earned his Bachelor's degree in St. Paul. He spent four years in Japan, three of which were spent teaching English at the middle school level. Dr. Saxton enjoys numerous outdoor activities including skiing, camping, fishing, canoeing, and hiking; he brings his partner and dog along during his outdoor adventures. He also enjoys cooking, barbecuing, going to Comic-Con, and is an active member of USMS Swimming.
