Dr. Carol A Asada Wilkinson, PhD

My experience with Dr. Asada was GREAT from beginning to end. I saw her for about a year, and during that time I experienced growth, insight, and weight loss. I stopped seeing Dr Asada because I moved out of the area.

I am writing this yelp review to inform everyone to please do your research before you visit Dr. Carol Asada. I was supposed to see Dr. Asada yesterday for an evaluation report for a weight loss surgery. Keep in mind I drove from San Marcos to San Diego to meet her and come to find out she does not accept my insurance (BlueShield HMO). I was super upset since I had sent her a copy of my insurance card and information. Per her request I also sent the same information (TWICE) to her biller named Linda. At one point there was a confusion w. my insurance because the provider had been changed however, that was adjusted (by me) and the plan was HMO the entire time. When I arrived to yesterday’s appointment she asked me for yet another copy of my insurance and then told me she did not accept it since it was HMO. I let her know I was a little upset since she could have looked at the messages I had sent her or Linda and realized she didn't accept the insurance long before the appointment. Dr.… Asada then proceeds to let me know she can "reduce" the evaluation to "only $400"... no way!!!! My co-pay is only $25! I wasn’t sure if this plan was intentional but it really felt like she made me drive all the way out there to then try to convince me to pay out of pocket. Please do your research! Also, the only reason there was one star given was to write this review.

She is terrible. She takes 6 months to write your mental health evaluation. If you inquire about it, she will get back to you by “ don’t email me re your report. Every time you do, it takes time that I could use to write your report.” She has overwhelmed herself by taking as many new patients as possible and literally has no time to write reports. Beware. I am in the process of reporting her to California board of psychologists. She is terrible.
