Dr. Catherine Ann Compito, MD

The doctor performed ACL knee reconstruction. It was the best decision i've ever made to move forward with the surgery with Dr Compito. She was very thorough to all the questions/concerns regarding the procedure. I had no bruising immediately after and my knee is healing very well.

Dr. Compito is great! She is well worth the wait! I had meniscus repair with her, and she is a highly skilled surgeon with a "light touch". My recovery was speedy. I'm so glad I was able to see her with my insurance. Highly recommend!!!

This doctor is extremely personable and takes time to spend with her patients, in spite of a full waiting room. She is well worth the wait! The office is chaotic, as so many MD's offices these days. She is extremely knowledgeable, very competent, highly recommended! I feel very fortunate that she is in my network!!

I went to Dr. Compito for pain in my left shoulder. I previously had similar pain in my right arm about a year and a half before this visit and was treated for a frozen by a different doctor at the same facility. She saw in my chart that I had been diagnosed with Disc Disease. She insisted that because I still had good range of motion it was not a problem with my shoulder but was caused by my disc disease and a spinal problem. She said there was nothing she could do and sent me back to my primary doctor with a note stating I needed to see a spinal specialist. Now months later that I have almost no range of motion and an MRI by another doctor at the same facility I have been told my left shoulder is frozen with extreme scar tissue build up. The worst case senario is I may need surgery if PT isn't helpful. I can't sleep or even pull up my pants due to severe pain. I have to have physical therapy 3times a week and my husband had to quit his job to help talk care of our 3 children 2 who… have special needs. All this after only 3 months since seeing Dr. Compito who if she gave me atleast a MRI when I saw her could have saved me months of pain and suffering cause it would have been caught in time to prevent this much damage and pain. Save yourself the agony and do not see Dr. Catherine Compito.

She is a nice lady. The staff is horrible. Countless times I have come back to the steady stream of "Please have a seat", or "Im calling(no names) in regards to your reschedule of your appointment. Get this!...I went in last Wed for a check up 2 weeks after my appointment (two weeks after surgery) and come to find that she is out sick. I got no notice of that prior, but did in fact receive two calls (one an automated message confirming my appointment at 8:15 the next day wed) and another voicemail from a staff worker confirming for my appointment at 8:30 the next morning . TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. Well I was very frustrated upon learning that the doc was not in. The staff showed not a care in the world and wen about there day SLACKING OFF i believe. I came to find out that i did receive a notice via voicemail of her absence in the worst not a care in the world voice tone. Guess what time they called to warn me? 8:14 am. 1 minute before I was suppose to be there! And they were… seriously being defensive to me saying that " Well we called you" F### THAT. They are the worst group of staff I have ever encountered. I have wasted months waiting to just see a doc to schedule a simple surgery. Im losing money because of this, and I am losing my health. I do not at all approve of this management. I like the docs personality, but she could be a bit more punctual. I had one appointment about 3 weeks ago scheduled for 2:15, I didn't see her until 5: 45. I was out at 6 : 30., They failed to give me my post surgical Xrays. This is by far the WORST GROUP EVER TO MANAGE A DOCTORS SCHEDULE. They should all be fired! THey don't follow up. And when they are confronted, they turn it around and blame you. GO TO SOME ONE ELSE IF YOU VALUE YOURE TIME!

To be fair I can't say whether I would recommend her. My chest injury is still debilitating and that's after 8 months. She wasn't keen on me getting an MRI back when the injury happened and now 8 months later even after a recent MRI we are still in the dark about the nature of the injury. Hopefully we will get a second opinion on the MRI to see if it reveals anything. Either way I would have preferred a more rigorous diagnostic approach from the outset.But the real negative is just a completely mismanaged office. The wait was over 4 hours on my first visit. People were having fits in the waiting room. I saw her recently to discuss getting an MRI. The office didn't tell me she would be at 73rd Street so I went to the Union Square office instead so that knocked me back a few hours. When it came time for her office to coordinate with the MRI service and my insurance company, something got botched forcing me to reschedule the MRI at the last moment. I saw her just recently to review… the MRI and this time waited over 2 hours to see her. I made a gentle reference to the wait and got in effect, 'go somewhere else then.' Finally she told me she would contact me this week regarding the second opinion on the MRI. No call, I followed up. Recommendation: get a new office manager.
