Dr. Cecelia Patrice Kane, MD

I foind Dr. Kane extremely helpful. I was going though a divorce and many life changes including numerous deaths in my family. She was extremely helpful. Of course she tried different meds on me but. only to find those I could tolerate. So, yes, there was a short period of trial and error and she made it as comfortable as she could. I know I wouldn't be here today if it were not for Dr Kane. In fact, I an reaching out for her again. I have yet again had many deaths in my family and find myself in a dark place again. I am trying to find her to made a much needed appointment.

I was a patient of Dr. Kane's for approx. 10 years. She was very caring and easy to talk to, however, I don't feel she is up to par as far as her knowledge of medication and treatments are concerned. Looking back, I feel as though I were a "guinea pig" for her testing out various medications. When I changed psychiatrists, my new doctor took me off what she had prescribed and I lost 75 lbs. I had become diabetic after Dr. Kane put me on zyprexa. My new doctor said there was no reason whatsoever for me to be on that medicine. My primary care physician had told me to tell Dr. Kane to take me off zyprexa because of its bad effect on blood sugar, but Kane did not seem to think it was a big deal. She must have tried a dozen different drugs on me, several with bad side effects. She also suggested I have a rather extreme treatment (VNS) that has yet to be proven effective. I am glad I did not go through with it. I will say that she did go out of her way to help me find financial… assistance to obtain my prescriptions. Her office visits cost me about four times what my current doctor charges, though. She is willing to spend as much time with you as you need and never made me feel hurried as some other doctors tend to do. Personally, I feel Dr. Kane would be a better therapist than psychiatrist.
