Dr. Celeste Missaggia Sinton

Dr Sinton is very unprofessional in numours ways. My daughter was named called a psycho and other names by this “mental health professional.” She should not be allowed near children who are developing mentally and going through a rough time in their lives only to be made worse by name calling. It’s rudimental stuff here. Everyone knows name calling has an impact but for an adult to stoop to a child’s level is heartbreaking. I can only imagine other people’s kids experiences with her. If your child needs help please find a different dr.

Really, this should be a NO STAR rating. Celeste Sinton provided the worst care I have ever experienced. Two doctors in Bozeman told me that my teenage daughter's life depended on getting a hospital bed. Dr. Sinton was at Shodair Children's Hospital in Helena, where apparently she still works. I drove a round trip of 200 miles 2-4 times a week to do family therapy, meet with with my daughter's providers, and take my daughter on outings. At one of these meetings, Dr. Sinton told me, and these are her direct words, "She is going to die as a prostitute and a drug addict." I would expect a supposed expert with children to see past a teenager's temporary difficulties. How many teenage girls experience their burgeoning sexuality and flirt with every male in proximity? How many teenagers experiment with drugs? I don't think all of them go into sex work and die of overdoses. I was a single working mother, stressed to the limit by my my fear for my daughter's life. I was desperate to find help… and relieve her pain. This was compounded by Shodair's policy of not admitting patients without a signed statement that payment will be made in full within 3 years. In-patient care was not covered by my health insurance, and the cost for a minimum 3-month stay was estimated at $45,000. Dr. Sinton telling me various psychiatric disorders that she thought my daughter exhibited added to the difficulty, as did her assertion that nothing would help my daughter unless I agreed to her being at Shodair for 18 months. She repeated this assertion at every meeting. Luckily, there were nurses and other providers besides Sinton. My daughter was there for 3 months. I don't know if her time at Shodair helped her or not. Despite Sinton's dire prediction, my daughter graduated from high school, attended college, and is now an RN, happily married for 8 years. Luckily, she has only ever experienced that one episode of serious depression. I am endlessly grateful for that. However, Sinton made an extremely difficult and painful situation far worse. With the clarity of distance, and the relief of my daughter's complete recovery, I do not think Sinton should be practicing mental health care, and certainly not with children.
