Dr. Chad Hummel, MD

Before you book an appointment where, and this is just one issue, you’ll be waiting forever, you should find out why he left his practice in Massapequa, NY!!!

I recently had an appointment with at the West Coast Eye Institute in St. Petersburg with Dr. Chad Hummel. As usual, I showed up 25 mins early, checked in and was brought back to the exam/waiting room. After being seen by the medical assistants, my appointment time came and went, I waited and waited and waited 30 minutes, 45 mins, 60 mins, after 70 mins I got up and left. Never was seen by the doctor. Only 2 other people in the waiting room. One still waiting to be seen. No emergencies going on. I notified the assistant I was leaving, she apologized, and knew it had been a long time. I think that 30 mins is about average/normal time to wait, 60 mins is ridiculous, but 70 mins...totally unprofessional. Total time in the office 95 minutes. I have seen 3 other physicians there and had -0- problems. I would not recommend this physician as he does not treat patients with respect. Life is too short to settle for this kind of treatment from any health care provider.

I went to my appointment 25 minutes early, and after being checked by the techs, sat in the waiting room for 70 minutes. I finally got up and left. If you have an afternoon to sit and wait for him to show up then this is your guy. I find it very unprofessional and would never recommend him to anyone.

The staff at the Massapequa Office are very friendly and helpful. I needed Prior Authorization for a prescription. I was provided with samples for the meantime. They contacted my insurance and had it approved within only a few days. Dr. Hummel is a very knowledgeable and caring doctor. He quickly and accurately diagnosed my problems and provided me the right medicine and instructions on how to treat it.
