Dr. Charlece Scoma Hughes, DO

Dr. Charlece Hughes probably should not be seeing patients. She was referred by my PCP but I reported back how rude, curt, insulting she was and how she did not listen. My wife and I were shocked! Something is very wrong, She needs some psychological or professional counseling. (My wife, unbeknownst to Hughes is a highly experienced PhD in Psychology and University Graduate Chair, I am also a highly experienced Professional) The front desk was also short and rude. I will never go back. Just read the negative reviews here regarding Hughes. Perhaps there should be intervention by the Texas Medical Board. Beware…

Dr. Hughes was rude, condescending and judgmental. She lacks any form of humanity or compassion whatsoever and she will talk down to you like you’re a 2 yr. old. She wouldn’t listen when my husband was trying to explain his symptoms to her and she kept talking over him. She was more interested in trying to make my husband’s Neurosurgeon look incompetent which told us everything we needed to know about *her* not only as a Dr., but also as a human being. Save your time and money and go to a Neurologist who actually wants to practice medicine, listens to their patients and has a modicum of professionalism.

Some of these reviews made me wonder if we are all on the same planet! I have been going to Dr. Hughes for about 5 years now and I am being treated for idiopathic neuropathy. At first she had me doing all sorts of nerve testing to see if there was a reason for me to develop this overnight. Every test came back negative. Right now I just go in for follow up appointments to see how I am doing, and she is always very friendly and warm.

I was a patient of Dr Hughes for nearly 7 years. She had always been outstanding - until what ended up being my last visit. She came into the room angry and barely made eye contact with me. She accused her nurse of booking my appointment and making a treatment plan without her consent. None of that was accurate. She denied knowledge of my treatment plan that we had discussed at length over six months and advised she had no documentation. She told me something was "broken inside" me and that I would continue to be in pain until I fixed it. She called my treatment a "charade" and told me she would no longer treat me. All of this was completely out of the blue and without reason or justification. As she continued to verbally attack me, I teared up, upset that this doctor who had been my advocate for many years was treating me with such disrespect and hatred. She then told me that I was having an inappropriate emotional response and I would end up addicted to narcotics. I have never even… used narcotics! She concluded the appointment by aggressively injecting me with the Botox I came in for to treat my chronic migraine. I have had this same procedure nearly 20 times in the last six years. This time, I was left with severe bruising and pain. It felt like she was taking her anger out on me with the needles and I was afraid for the entirety of the procedure. She left the room, advising she was going to tell off her nurse and told me to stay until she returned. Shaken and terrified, I left the office. I will NEVER return to Dr Hughes. I am disgusted and frightened by her erratic behavior. I pray that no one else experiences the horror I did. No patient should EVER be treated as I was.

Dr. Hughes took wonderful care of my father for many years. He was able to get a deep brain stimulator for his Parkinson’s. It improved his life for many years. I highly recommend this for anyone that has this disease. With high regard, Elma Flores

Dr. Hughes could not be more clear and concise. She is very caring and takes time to ensure that everything is ok with me. I could not recommend her more to anybody. She is an amazing doctor and a more amazing caring person. I have been seeing her over thirteen years as a patient. I have never had one negative experience with her, her office staff, or nursing staff.
