Dr. Charley Julius Andrews III, MD

I went into this office for a check up visit. I had left a voice message on a recorder that supposedly was never received. In reporting that I was intending to identify a problem that needed to be looked at. What I got was a flat denial that there’s anything wrong, and blamed with the problem. Later on this same party admits my name came up on their caller-ID further supporting they have equipment trouble. I was told I didn’t leave a message, which is patently false, and they made me mad. If a doctor’s night recorder doesn’t accept messages then I am without after hours and emergency care. I am blessed they refused to treat me because if I did need emergency care I couldn’t get to it, and they are determined not to admit fault. Most offensive was this assistant demanding that I didn’t leave a message. I most certainly did, and even played it back before sending it to be sure it was audible. We are blessed this party isn’t on the bench somewhere. I find out later this… ‘assistant’ is the doctor’s wife, and in life every time I’ve run into a spouse in a medical practice it’s bad. In another practice I’m still using that doctor’s spouse almost ran me off before the doctor made them disappear from the practice. Something about spouses in a medical practices give them a big head, and they instantly become the authority over everything; even the doctor. Sooner or later they will try to assume to have authority over me, and that does not work for me. I’ve run into this scenario twice before and the problems are almost identical. We have choices, and I choose not to accept blame for things beyond my control, or that I didn’t do. This doctor refused to see me because I wouldn’t put up with his wife accusing and blaming. I don’t dispute they shouldn’t see me because this will be a source of dissatisfaction from here to the grave and neither of us needs that. I didn’t want an appointment to see anyone’s wife. If you’re the kind of patient that is OK with being bossed around by mama, or anyone else, they might be OK for you. I admit to being sensitive about taking blame for things I’ve never done and that ended this relationship. The doctor is already retired on duty, but what he’s doing doesn’t require agility or being young. I wouldn’t recommend them because you can’t get past his wife, and she is not the most honest person walking around. I’ve seen more unprofessional behavior in my life, but it’s been quite a while. They still have a voice recorder that’s discarding messages. He is not accepting new patients because his wife cannot handle what he’s got. And, then I checked ‘healthgrades’ and found this: Although Dr. Andrews is good. His office staff is very rude and contact is almost impossible. I’ll second that motion! I’m not singled out here, and I’m delighted to know everyone gets the same treatment. I’m not the problem; it’s in the practice, and I should not waste any more time concerned about this. He’s still practicing rather than go home to retirement and stay with her with nothing else to do all day. I should learn to throw those post cards in the trash when I didn’t ask for healthcare.

My insurance company filed the claim incorrectly which resulted in me owing money I shouldn’t have owed. When I called Dr. Andrews’ office to discuss this issue and tell them that insurance was working on it, the lady interrupted me and said they’d go ahead and send it to collections today. DO NOT go to this doctor.

This doctor refuses to disclose his credentials to new patients...beware.

The staff is not qualified in billing & refuses to listen to the insurance company. They double bill & then and do not refund your money after the insurance pays them.

After waiting three weeks for an appointment,I never got to see the Doctor. The rude lady at the front desk asked for my Insurance and I found I had left my Medicare card in my other wallet. I did have Tricare and driver's license, but she flatly stated that there was nothing she could do and got very agitated. I asked if I could bring the card later this afternoon and she virtually yelled NO!!! I asked if I could reschedule the appointment and she yelled NO!!! I gathered my referral file and history and left, I did slam the door!!! I would not go back, even if the Doctor himself personally called. I plan to contact BBB and the Texas accreditation office about this!

Always kind and works with my schedule. Knowledgeable about options and works with what is best for you as the patient. Very well-versed and personable.

The woman up front was VERY rude. Not only to us but the patient before us. The elderly lady was around 85 years old. We were told to just leave then because my husband would not sight the last sheet he filled out as it stated we would pay everything in full if the insurance did not pay in 30 days. Also he would be charged $65 dollars if he had not paid in 5 days. That was all besides the $30 in copay. So we left and will never enter their door again nor ever give a rave review for them. No need to lie!!!!

Doctor was fine. Staff refuses to return my calls even though they owe me money. I charged my visit (my mistake) Staff told me they would return my money if they were paid by medicare and my secondary insurance. They were paid by both but never returned my money.

Dr. Andrews is tops in my opinion. He spends a great amount of time talking to you, giving a clear diagnosis, and listening to your concerns. The entire staff is wonderful. This is my "forever" eye doctor from now on. If it were possible to give a 5 star rating, I would!
