Dr. Charlotte Callens, PhD

Can I give 0 stars? Charlotte Callens was grossly inappropriate. She was there to talk about herself, her past, her family, and TMI is an understatement. I firmly believe this woman should have her license revoked.

The five star reviews she received are either paid or written by friends/family members. Her “therapy” is literally just her sitting down and having a chat with you, where she won’t even let you talk. She doesn’t have any value as a real therapist.

Simply rude. A waste of time. A waste of money. She’s had countless experiences where she shares information with family members or relatives (who she calls when patients miss an appointment most often) and berates and speaks ill of the patient, all to vent her anger out. It’s such a childish and shocking thing to see. Especially since she’s an old woman. Exposing and insulting patients just because they missed an appointment? It’s an awfully immature thing to do for someone who is so old. Withered old bag.

I have been a client of Dr. Callens more than three years. In all that time, she has demonstrated herself to be a deeply compassionate and competent professional. Dr. Callens has helped me rediscover my core values and commit to practicing them in spite of my anxieties, thereby enabling me to chart a positive path forward in my life. Dr. Callens is a courageous, indefatigable therapist who will go above and beyond to assist a client; she has frequently offered to assist me in my health challenges outside the therapeutic situation. Dr. Callens is a gem!

I have been seeing Dr. Callens for over 2 years, and she has helped me learn coping skills which have helped my anxiety & improved my daily life in many ways. Im very satisfied with the care i have received, and my family has noticed im much happier as well. Not only have the schema therapy and coping skills helped, with her knowledge of medicines iv been able to develop a plan with her and my family doctor for medication that is much better than any psychiatrist in the area has been able to do for me.

I am not a client of Dr. Callens. A family member of mine is. Dr. Callens called me and was extremely accusatory and unprofessional. She proceeded to say that I was “messed up”, made several baseless accusations and refused to listen to an alternative perspective (a truthful perspective corroborated by several people within and outside of the family). I can understand that she is only hearing one side of the story, however to call and make absurd allegations, while on speakerphone with said family member, was alarming and again, woefully unprofessional. I do not believe that was an appropriate way to handle the situation. In fact, it escalated the situation. And I feel that if she was truly trying to help this person, she would want to hear each perspective to get a full scope of their situation. Again, Dr. Callens is not my therapist. But she was brazen, and rude, and combative, and it really took me aback.
