Dr. Christian Summers Lothes, MD

I have cervical stenosis present by MRI. Nerve blocks, rfa, acupuncture, epidurals did little for me over a span of 4 years. Daily headaches, neck pain and stiffness, and numbness and tingling in my extremity. Struggle daily. This man had zero bedside manner, you could tell he treats patients like cattle and tried to gaslight me by telling me I had carpal tunnel and stenosis would not cause neck pain, headaches or numbess tingling. Mind you i already had a conduction study and it was not carpal tunnel. He wouldnt even take the opportunity to think it was something else. Talked to neuro and referring physician who said this was wrong and immediately got me a second opinion. Don't ever go to this man if you don't want to be gaslit.

I saw Dr. Lothes for the first time in March. He briefly explained the anticipated procedure. Because of several medical problems I was not able to have the procedure until Nov. Dr. Lothes did not see me before surgery nor after. He did not see me for the two week incision check and I doubt if I see him again. His lack of concern for my well being is very uncomfortable and he needs to know that.

Do not recommend this Dr. or his Spine Hospital. Had ACDF surgery by Dr.Lothes and it has been a total nightmare and he personally has seen me 2x's in the last 5 months. Sends his PA or a nurse instead. Go elsewhere or it could happen to you.

I was scheduled for L4-L5 Lumbar Spine Laminectomy & Interbody Fusion surgery using the PEEK (polyetheretherketone) plastic spinal implant for which I had approved. In the hospital after surgery I was informed that the PEEK Interbody was not used and I now had two stainless steel plates and four screws instead, for which I would never have approved beforehand. Now more than 14 months post surgery I have never seen or communicated with Dr. Lothes at any post-op appointments and not even in the hospital following the surgery. I still have continual chronic back pain at the surgery site which also causes awakening multiple times during the night and loss of sleep. I am now limited in my ability to perform many physical activities that I previously took for granted.

waited an hour in the exam room before the doctor showed up. I felt like I wasted his time. he didn't have much to say other than telling me what my problem was which I already knew. I had to get him to give me any answers. Felt like I wasted a day off of work and 210 miles one way for nothing. would not recommend him to anyone.

I saw Dr. Lothes in Manhattan. The receptionist & nurse were great. I waited over an hour in the exam room after the nurse left. I was seeing him because of a degenerative condition in my neck that had caused a lot of pain over 6 months that had progressed to numbness & tingling in my R arm. I had a prior nerve conduction study done with the diagnosis that it was not carpal tunnel after comparing it to a study done 5 years earlier. That was followed by a CT Scan, a myelogram & CT scan. Dr. Lothes was very skeptical of the nerve conduction study. Finally said it could be from spurs in my neck. I asked what were things I should be aware of that could cause problems...muscle weakness. He seemed very indifferent, gave me the distinct feeling I didn't need to be there. I am not used to having to pry information from a doctor. I left feeling I had wasted my whole day after spending 5 hours traveling time. I would not recommend him.

When checking in for a consultation with Dr. Christian Lothes we were met by receptionist that was absolutely outstanding. We were called back to the examination room right on time. Dr. Lothes' nurse conducted a very polite, efficient and compassionate pre-examination. We found Dr. Lothes to be a compassionate individual and his diagnosis was explained to us in a clear manner. Our experience with Dr. Lothes was most pleasant.

He cancelled 2 appointment with no explanation. I took 2 X-rays to his office. Then was called by office, told I could remove collar and I would receive information and another appointment. Four months and nothing.

HE WAS VERY UNCARING AND COLD. WOULD NOT GO THROUGH OPTIONS WITH ME AND SAID SINCE I WAS NOT A TEXTBOOK CASE HE COULDN'T PROMISE ME ANY RESULTS BUT IF I WANTED SURGERY HE WOULD DO IT. NEVER GAVE ME WHAT HE THOUGHT WOULD BE THE BEST ROUTE ALL MY QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED WITH WELL I AM SURGEON. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE.

Dr. Lothes and his staff was and are very responsive to my needs. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Lothes. I am two weeks post op and feeling great. I went from being bent over, hobbling around on crutches, in excruciating pain, to standing straight up, slight tingling in three toes and some incision discomfort.
