Dr. Christina Marie Labella, MD

I've decided to share my experience with Dr. Labella even though it was a while ago. I used to see her when she was in Bethel Park. I was 35 and had developed uterine fibroids. They were as big as a 16-week fetus. I have never wanted children. I did want a hysterectomy. Dr. Labella agreed to it, but she said to me she wanted me to be sure in case I "met Mr. Right and he wanted kids." I kept my mouth shut because I wanted the procedure, but I was very very taken aback by her offensive comment. First, she assumed I didn't know my own mind....at 35. Second, she assumed I'd just change my whole outlook to please some imaginary future partner. (I had a partner at the time, but she didn't even ask. She assumed. And he had a vasectomy already because he felt the same way as I do!) She wanted me to suffer with fibroids and to keep having heavy periods for no real reason. She assumed that wanting children was normal. I've known since I was tiny that I never wanted kids. She… didn't seem to think that was possible. I hope she has evolved in her outlook since then. Her sexist opinions were pretty gross.

Please do not go to her. She did not listen to me whatsoever. Felt like she came in and was instantly judging me/deciding not to care about my issues. Literally would not let me talk about my symptoms. Anytime I would try to express the pain I was experiencing, etc.. she would just cut me off and dismiss it as it was nothing. In my official health chart, she documented false information i.e. “intermittent, mild pain” when I said I have constant pain with intermittent very severe pain. She stated no bloating, no abdominal pain, no fatigue, no nausea, etc.. on things that I either specifically told her I was experiencing or just questions she did not ask me. She also strangely focused on my mental health in her report.. not sure why a gynecologist would need to focus so much about my history of MH and not care about why I was actually there. I would not trust her to anyone for anything and do not believe she should carry a medical license.

I have seen her twice now, and both times she has been completely rude and judgmental! Do yourself the favor and find a different doctor! Don’t waste your time!

Met with her twice and she was cold, rude, very inconsiderate and just plain mean. I left the hospital in tears. She was extremely hostile and spoke to me like I was a nuisance and like I had done something awful to her. :( I pray I never see her again. The rest of the office staff and doctors are absolutely wonderful. She’s the most horrible doctor I think I ever seen.

This doctor was dismissive and sarcastic.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. La Bella. If you want a Dr. who is thorough, listens and is accurate with her diagnosis, go see Dr. La Bella. On my first visit, I knew I was going to like her. She takes her time with you and answers all of your questions.

She provided no support in my second opinions with expert experience in cancer, other than to say she spent 3 hours reviewing my recent reports ( done at UPMC). She is in support of full hysterectomy; "why come back 2 years from now and have to have another surgery". She provides no knowledge on bioidentical hormone replacement. I understand possibly she is pain medicine trained, but had no concern for pain, but to suggest that I am possibly depressed, and perhaps it's pseudo. Interestingly, no one in the UPMC system in so much as inferred such, but suggested a next step in diagnosing, and wanted me followed for cancer or for diagnostic tx, I don't think she thoroughly read my reports, but was instead overwhelmed that there were so many test done at their recommendation.

One of the most inconsiderate physicians that I have ever dealt with. I do not plan on returning.
