Dr. Christine Cheng, MD

Dr. Cheng saw me at the Mt. Kisco office after a scan at 9.6 weeks showed no heart beat and what appeared to be an empty sac. I told her that I track my periods, I have regular periods, I had a positive pregnancy test about 5 weeks ago. I also told her I am spotting. Instead of preparing me for what to expect in the coming weeks, she tells me that there is a chance it's a viable pregnancy and to come back in two weeks. Now I understand the need to confirm a miscarriage, and have no problem with coming back to do it, but telling a patient that it can be a viable pregnancy with these stats and giving no info on what to expect in the coming weeks, is absolutely unprofessional and harmful. I am left Googling miscarriage symptoms and first hand accounts of miscarriages to understand what is happening. It is hard enough to deal with a miscarriage, but I was at least hoping for some sound medical advice.

I have been a patient at the Ob/gun practice at Phelps for over 15yrs. My regular doctor was unavailable and Dr. Cheng had availability. Warning: if a doctor is available too easily, there is something wrong. Cheng was arrogant and seemed to feel too uninterested in the job. Inconsiderate and horrible bedside manner. Wait for an appointment with better doctor or midwife. Sadly, it may be that Northwell has destroyed this community hospital with docs who just punch the insurance ticket. Find another practice away from Phelps. The doctors are 3rd rate.
