Having surgery with Dr Boehlke was a HORRIBLE experience! The cataract surgery performed by this smug surgeon has left me with flashes of light and glare in the one eye he operated on. This practice is a mill and you are not heard as a patient. DO NOT let this terrible, unfeeling surgeon near you or your loved one.

Dr. Boehlke performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes with excellent results and 20/20 vision. The entire staff was very professional and all personnel worked together to provide a very smooth process through the examination, testing, surgery, recovery and post op followup. The financial cost was explained very thoroughly up front. The appointments were timely and everything was done to make the entire process as easy as possible for the patient.

My experiences with Dr. Boehlke and the staff at Duke Raleigh have been exceptional. Yes, at times I've had to wait more than I'd like however I also appreciate that whenever I have a problem they squeeze me in, so as to get things in check right away. Therefore I can understand/appreciate when they do the same for others and squeeze patients in before me, increasing my wait. The care from Dr. Boehlke is well-worth the wait.

Yesterday after a wait of two hours I was to be next to see the doctor when two people were put ahead of me without explanation or apology. I am elderly, was so tired and upset I had to leave. Though I had been seeing Dr. Boehlke for about three years and knew to be prepared for long waits, this was absolutely the worst experience ever in my long years in a physcian's office. Felt humiliated and unimportant to them. Won't be back.

I went to Dr Boehlke for consultation and recommendations regarding refractive surgery. I received a thorough examination and feedback which was straight forward , honest and to the point. This is exactly what I wanted.

My appointment was at 10:30. Did not see the doctor until 11:55. His assistant continue to call patients over me I was so upset that I would never ever go back to Dr. Boehike again. But I am going for a second opinion.

Thoughtful and meticulous care

Both my caterac surgeries were exceptional! I can see again! Dr. B is energetic, professional, listens to my questions, very informative about my eyes and what decisions I need to make. He told me I would probably have to use glasses for something after my surgery but the end result was that I am not using glasses for anything! At 57, I'm not using glasses for anything for possibly the first time in my life! He called me at 7:30 pm after both of my surgeries to check on me! I don't know many doctors these days that do that. My mom is having surgery with him next month and I would recommend him to anyone that asks. Duke Raleigh Hospital was exceptional as well. Phone call followup the next day, wonderful professional staff. They treated me like family. I took them baked goods to thank them all because I felt special when they were treating me.

Dr. Boehlke told me the average visit takes 2 to 2 1/2 hr.s. No wonder his office was over crowded and backed up. Won't be returning again. Way too long too wait and to find out that he was not very pleasant.

Dr. Boehlke came highly recommended to me. Yet I was thoroughly disappointed with his bedside manner. He was very short, was irritated when I asked questions and did not explain things to me well. He might have the best of skills, but he won't be the one that I would go to given a choice.
