Dr. Christopher Jay Petro, MD

BEWARE: Dr. Christopher Petro is grossly negligent and should have his license revoked! He over-prescribes medications and should be investigated for receiving kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies. My partner began exhibiting serious side effects and interactions between medications including drug induced dementia, uncontrolled muscle movements, extreme weight loss, hair loss, and memory problems. When it was brought it to Dr. Petro's attention, he denied that the medications were the reason for the physical and neurological symptoms. After seeking a second opinion, it was instructed by the new psychiatrist that the medications should be quit immediately! Within weeks, my partners health has began to improve significantly. Dr. Petro should be investigated for malpractice including negligent dosing, ignoring serious drug interactions and harmful side effects. His ability to over-treat his patients and ignore dangerous interactions is egregious!

This Doctor was a huge influence in my life. An excellent listener and offers a perspective that weaves meaning into the psyche and soul.

After many years of visiting many different doctors to try to get help. I went to Dr. Petro at Sierra Tucson. He helped me more that all the others I consulted. He told me that I have a problem with trauma and complex ptsd. Dr. Petro is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of ptsd. He spent many years in the VA system helping our veterans with their trauma and ptsd. He understands this condition and is compassionate. I am still working through my ptsd but I credit my diagnosis and beginning treatment to Dr. Petro.

Dr. Petro has always been extremely kind and considerate and has spent time on the phone with me on more than one occasion. My problem with him is that I always have to wait at least 20 to 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time to see him. I have never been shorted in the length of my visit, but he is always late in starting, which makes it difficult to fit in appointment times during the work day.

I have found Dr. Petro to be the most skilled, kind, caring psychiatrist I have ever met--and I have been to quite a number over the years. He is relaxed and personable. I have never felt rushed and he always seems to have enough time for me. His broad-based perspective on the emotional, psychological, philosophic and spiritual domains of problems has been invaluable for my recovery. I do not hesitate in giving him my highest endorsement and I often refer friends or family to him. They have all been as delighted with the high-quality care they have gotten from him as I have been.
