Dr. Curtis Ray Winkler

I found Dr Winkler to be arrogant, cold, rude and lacking of any desire to exhibit good bedside manner. He literally called me a liar twice accusing me of lying to my primarycare physician, as if to lead her to believe I have been annually keeping an eye appointment. (I had not had an eye exam in 5 years and never told my primary MD otherwise—never lied to her). I did not understand why Dr Winkler would presume to call me a liar when I chose not to schedule an eye exam. I was having distant vision clarity (TV letters and street signs fuzzy). He told me my distance vision was good and I could easily pass the driver’s test without correction. Said my drugstore purchased readers (for close up)would be more than adequate for me to use. I paid $60 out of pocket to have a Rx for better close and distant vision. Even the technician testing I questioned as the choices never got to a “clear” letter. I need to find another provider and get a Rx I have confidence in.

Dr. Winkler treated my mother so rudely! He talked to her as if she was illiterate. I have never seen such bad behavior from a doctor. If This is the treatment you get from being on Medicare, I advise anybody to look elsewhere. Horrible experience.

First visit to ophthalmologist as was told by an optometrist that I had cataracts. Had many tests by machine by nice technician and thought I was seeing Dr. Goldman as his name is on door and on website. Dr. Winkler asked me if I had glaucoma and told him I was not aware of it and no history in family. He never looked in my eyes although the technician did before he entered the room. He looked at notes and my old glasses and sent me to his surgical scheduler (I did not schedule). Went to another doctor and was told that I indeed have glaucoma and a damaged optic nerve. The cataracts were not ready to be removed as medicare has guidelines. New doctor is treating me.

RxS for pre-op August, 2025. Told another referral, physical, authorizatio, cardiac clearance for surgery : done. Told optic nerve 3/4 gone!cataract became larger; wasn't told a stent available for glaucoma! Called me to question insurance;same. A fax , phone calls not returned 30$ bal. not a lawful reason to deny treatment.
