Dr. Cynthia Pena, MD

Had a Radio Frequency Ablation Injection in my lower back which has caused me numbness, tingling, burning sensation and pain and which is now spreading to me leg and upper back and getting worse. During my procedure Dr. Pena and staff were playing music, laughing, joking, as if it were they were at a party, while Dr.Pena was manipulating needles in and on the nerves on my spine. She appeared very distracted to me. I have been trying to reach her office per her discharge instructions to report this but only get a voicemail which does not even allow leaving a message. I have had this same procedure several times in the past by other doctors and never had any problems like this. I would never use her again and if my symptoms get worse, I will most likely have see another Doctor to hopefully correct whatever she did to my back. Totally unprofessional and very scary. Someone should take those needles away from her! She is dangerous.

Terrible experience! She doesn't address your pain and doesn't want to give you medicine. It's a pain clinic that doesn't relieve patients of their pain. Don't go to her!

Staff does not follow up with prescription orders, pharmacy sent many faxes and follow up with office, no answer. Ran out of meds, expectation is patient tells doctors what they have for meds, even though Dr. prescribed them, bedside manner does not exist. Office staff does not follow up with appointments and has worse bedside manner than Dr. They act like they don't need patients.

My wife and I just got done visiting this person who practices medicine, Dr Pena. If you like your doctor visits hurried, unprepared, under educated, and very impersonal, then this is the doctor for you. But be warned, " Do not ask", if she is aware of other prescriptions you are taking from another MD. She may say "no", to which you will respond, " Isn't that your job. Uh-Oh. Now, you have addressed one of her many flaws as an MD. (Read the other reviews). This will trigger a code "RED". Security will be called and they will politely escort you out of the building. (The security guys were just doing there job, they were cool). Doctor Pena, on the other hand, said she felt threatened by my questioning the various drugs that her and other MD's, are prescribing my wife, not to mention the approximate 2 year longevity she has been taking them. (Hence me getting escorted out by the henchmen). I have posed questions to a lot of other real professional MD's over the… years, trying to ensure my wife gets good care, yet never once have I seen such UN-professional behavior by a physician. When did the practice of medicine by a doctor, become a symptom masking charade of "I don't know whats wrong with you, lets drug you for the rest of your life, culture"? She doesn't care about your condition. She doesn't care about your cure. She cares about your visit length and your prescription. Just like a little Major-Pharma dr. should do. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

I found when i seen her she was rude,uncaring and walked around like she was the sh.. . I personally did not find her very compassionate at all actually I left their crying and I had been a patient for awhile when this happened just my opinion

Dr. Pena, for the most part, is a caring physician; however, there are times she rushes thru her appt. time with you. I read the other review of the cannibis prescribed to another patient, and have to dispute this. I too had been prescribed cannibis; however, Dr. Pena's feelings on this were use one or the other, but not both! She explained that she could only prescribe narcotic pain medication IF I didn't use the cannibis as well. Since I don't like feeling "stoned" by using cannibis, I had no problem giving that up. My biggest problem is feeling rushed at appointments, and then not getting to address everything I wanted to discuss with her. The staff at the clinic are OK, most of the time. It is bothersome to have to wait 2-3 days to get a return call from staff, and NEVER actually speaking with her Medical Assistant when I call in. I've been a patient for over 2 years, and while I now live an hour drive away, I still return to her. I believe she genuinely cares about her… patients... maybe the other person was drug seeking, and Dr. Pena saw right through that. I too have chronic pain, which I will have to live with the rest of my life. THAT SUCKS, however, Dr. Pena always seems willing to adjust medication when what I am taking has become ineffective. I wish I could give a 4 star rating on all areas, but that would be lieing, and that I refuse to do. The nurse practitioners in the office I have absolutely NO USE for. When I've had an appt. with her, I've actually never been seen and been left waiting in the waiting room for up to an hour before I got really mad!

if you have cannabis prescripted to you do not go to her as she has a personal problem with it. She refused to prescribe any medicine as soon as i told her i was a legal cannabis patient for the last 10 years. instead she sent her recommendations to her buddy and had a dr. who dosen't have a D.E.A. licence to prescibe shedule III drugs, so when ever I hit the medicine plateau I had to wait like 4 months for a follow up to get them adjusted and was sick for over a year due to her ineptitude. avoid her at all costs! uncaring and personal opinions galore. what a crock, a dr. should want to help you not hurt you with their simple mined bias's against something that is legal in our state. AVOID HER AT ALL COST'S SHE PRESCIBES DIALAUDID LIKE CANDY!
