Dr. Thomas read my mother’s image for Stage 4 lung cancer. I need to say that I am not in medicine at all so I asked questions about the diagnosis, about the images, and about her opinions. This was a completely scary time in our lives and I was completely devastated about this diagnosis but I really felt like Dr. Thomas took her time to explain all of my concerns. She was so patient, knowledgeable and honest about the situation. Dr. Thomas extended her schedule to make more time for our appointment because I was so concerned and worried. Dr. Thomas was completely professional, smart and helpful with myself and my mother. Our conversation gave me much more insight as I learned about what was happening to my mother. I felt so much better discussing the situation with our new team of doctors. She was GOD’s blessing to us in a very difficult time.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Dr. Damita Thomas reads nuclear scans (PET scans.) She has repeatedly failed to include vital details in her reports. Her job is to identify nodules (old and new) and measure their size. She's read several of my reports which had depicted nodules but she has NEVER written the size of any nodule in my lungs. This is problematic because the main way they detect if a nodule is cancer is by watching to see if it stays the same size (stays stable) or grows. Cancer will not stay stable over time; it grows if not treated properly. I have complained to my oncologist & the director of his team about Dr. Damita Thomas’ incompetence, explaining how her reading affects my diagnosis, my treatment plan & my mental health. I complained to the head of radiology, Dr. Patel and to the risk manager of radiology. Dr. Thomas is still reading my reports and reading them inaccurately. No one is holding her accountable. She may unalive someone & Orlando Health is complicit.
