Dr. Danagra Georgia Ikossi, MD

Our experience with Dr.Ikossi has been so satisfying! She is not only smart, with wonderful bedside manners, but is the sweetest person you would ever want treating you! So kind and compassionate! We highly recommend Dr. Ikossi!

I don't usually write many reviews, and the reason for this review is to add some transparency about surgical procedures and results. It was very difficult for me to find out any personal track records of any surgeon to make an educated decision on choosing the right surgeon for my procedure. Most of the reviews are based on trivial things like bedside manners, doctor's politeness, courtesy of the staff etc. No reviews on the results of surgeries which is what matters. So, my opinion of Dr. Ikossi is that she is polite, personable, explains Laporascopic procedure as almost on par with open surgery except for a faster recovery. I was sold on the fast recovery part and not knowing much about surgeries I decided to go through with it. Recovery after the surgery was fairly quick after 2 weeks I started going for walks around the neighborhood and felt it was going to work out. However, after 4 weeks, I noticed the hernia was slowly coming back. I waited for about 7 weeks to make… sure and went in to see dr Ikossi who confirmed that there was a technical failure of the mesh and that I will have to come in for another repair. After reviewing everything I decided to go to a different surgeon to have the repair done. After surgery surgeon confirmed that the mesh was detached and drifted bellow hernia opening. He was able to repair it successfully. So far I am happy with my decision and how the surgery went. If I had to do it all over again I would choose open surgery over laparoscopic because the mesh attachment is easier to do than with a laparoscopic procedure.

I was lucky! I needed an emergency appendectomy and Dr. Ikossi was at the hospital. She was kind when I was freaking out. She was informative and happy to answer any questions. She was confident and upbeat - I wouldn't want a surgeon who was anything other than confident, upbeat and positive fixing my issues! She is communicative explaining in detail what was happening in there, what she did, why she did it. I've never had a favorite doctor, much less surgeon: she is both!!!
