Great doctor. Very caring. Listens well.

He took excellent care of me and my baby. He showed a genuine concern for our well-being. He is very kind and considerate.

Rude and critical when he talked to me after giving my new baby her first physical in the hospital. I didn't have a choice as to who did that check-up but I would NEVER go to him as a doctor.

I had Dr. Gauthier do my ultrasound during my pregnancy. I was a size 8-10 when I got pregnant and I saw him at 13 weeks when I had gained about 10 pounds and could still fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes. He more or less told me that I was too heavy to be having a baby and should consider a weight loss program before choosing to get pregnant again. I do understand the importance of being fit and pregnant, but from his language, he made it sound like I was obese and foolish to have children. He then said that I could basically starve myself and the baby would still survive off my fat reserves. I hope to never see him again. I walked out in tears. I wonder if anyone else has had this type of experience. I do also want to point out that I never did get preeclampsia or gestational diabetes; thank goodness. He was not my OB-GYN. He just did the ultrasound. My OB-GYN was shocked and angered when I told her his comments, and had nothing to say about my weight gain as a danger. … She did point out, "and has he ever been pregnant?" I gained 40 pounds in my pregnancy total. I hope not to gain as much next time around, but telling a pregnant woman to starve themself seems extreme and irresponsible. I have lost 30 of it and am working on that last 10 pounds.

We came to see this doctor for an ultrasound scheduled by my OBGYN. This doctor walked and the first question he asked was if the pregnancy planned or unplanned. I thought this was very rude and inappropriate and now thinking about it I should not have answered, but I did. He then proceeded to ask if I was planning on having more children I again answered when I should not have because again this was not an appropriate question and none of his business. His business was the current ultrasound and current pregnancy not my future child rearing plans. He then began to lecture me saying that I should really consider weight loss before having anymore children in the future, good thing to say to a pregnant woman. At this point even my husband started to get upset. This doctor was very cold, rude, and insensitive. I would never recommend him to friends or family, he should learn to do his job without sharing his ignorant opinions and concentrate on the task at hand. I guess a medical… degree can't teach compassion or kindness. If you have a choice use another doctor.
