Dr. Daniel Adam Hoffman, DO

I am shocked by negative comments re: Dr. Hoffman's lack of concern and professionalism. My husband and I have been patients for 5 years. He is the most caring and concerned physican. He is on time. listens carefully to any concerns, offers suggestions to improve quality of health. I am responsible for following though which I do.

He bought the practice of a wonderful Internist and now all the staff and most of the patients have fled to other places. He is rude, obnoxious, and impatient. When I switched doctors, he destroyed or lost all my original records, and sent a nasty letter about me to my new internist, even though I had been with the doctor whose practice bought for almost 2 decades. Stay away!

A brief history of what I went through to make this report as thorough as possible. I went to the ER on Friday because I thought I was having a stroke. The ER staff was amazing at Good Samaritan downtown and ran extensive blood test. CT- scan, the whole nine yards. Thankfully there was no stroke, tumor or bleeds, but they recommended I go to a GP to follow up in the next few days if symptoms continued. Wednesday the same symptoms came back to me while driving to work. I asked a colleague of mine for a doctor recommendation that may be able to see me that day. He gave me Hoffman's contact info and was able to be seen that day. I had high hopes of getting to the bottom of what may be going on with me. I get to his office, nurse does all the vitals. He comes in and once he finds out I am in entertainment starts talking about all the other doctors in the office who are on TV, who do Biggest Loser, etc. He continues to small talk with me, not asking me once WHY exactly I was there. He… then looks at my chart from the nurse and starts to lay into me that I am overweight and obese. I am a 38 year old woman, I am 5'10 and I weight less than 200 lbs. I have been overweight before, been to endocrinologists to test my thryroid when weight came on in my mid thirties. Not even then did THAT doctor tell me I was overweight or obese. But Hoffman took it open himself, after I argued with him that no, I am not overweight ( per my other appointments with my OTHER doctors) he slammed back at me with my BMI ( which has been proven to be not an exact science of someone's health if you do your research) and called me obese. I then stopped him in his tracks, and got upset. Told him I was not here to talk about my weight, that I am here for a follow up ER visit. I was so upset an administrator came in to make sure HE was okay. My husband was witness to everything, thank goodness, so I feel protected to write this review. When I told him my thyroid is fine ( Again NOT why I was there) He suggested to MY HUSBAND, not to me that " she could go on the Biggest Loser and lose weight, but once you leave the ranch...." On the most asinine tangent I have ever heard. Once I was able to gear his attention to my neurological issues, he looked over the ER staff's lab test results and confirmed " They did a good job, nothing is wrong, you are healthy." And then continued to repeat himself as if he were high on some sort of upper that " Do we want it to happen again? No. Will it happen again, it might. But we don't want it to happen again." He also asked me why I didn't got to my "lady doctor" instead of a GP for this stuff. I was severely mistreated and as I reached out to other medical professionals I know outside of LA, they urged me to report him ( I am) and that so many women get misdiagnosed because of people looking at their weight ( which I am going to remind you, my weight, has NOTHING to do with what is going wrong with me). He is awful. I was extremely upset, feel traumatized, and do hope this review and the report I'll be making will have him learn how to treat his patients better. He certainly has lost a few already.

Dr. Hoffman is great....he's easy to communicate with and listens...he'll fight insurance on your behalf...this is what medicine used to be like, he's a true patient advocate!!

would have been nice had dr. hoffman had the courtesy to at LEAST inform patients of his moving to california. i really liked him. he was good. but to just up and leave without notice was very distressing.

The girls in his warren office were not very efficient. They were told about a change in insurance and kept billing the wrong company. Dr Hoffman seemed nice and caring. I was very disappointed when he just left without a letter to his patients. I think it was very unprofessional of him.

I have been going to dr Hoffman for 1 1/2yrs now, and I am very pleased with his expertise, bedside manner and care in the office! that was the best choice I ever made, was switching drs and started seeing him! I read up very on the drs I am going to see, even before I make the appointment. I would rather to have my dr be straightforward with me about my medical problems, then beat around the bush to get any answers! I don't know what those other people found wrong with him, he was not one bit like that, from day number one!!

I ended up seeing Dr. Hoffman after my old Dr. left the hospital system. Dr. Hoffman mis-diagnosed an injury based on a shoddy x-ray that could barely be viewed. He referred me to a specialist that was out of town for 2 weeks, when I called the office to ask for another dr. to see I was told to find my own specialist since he could only refer that dr. that was part of his group. He offered not support at all. I ended up going to beaumont and saw a specialist that had a very different diagnosis than hoffman. Don't waste your time with this guy.

Doctor Hoffman recently took over for my old doctor and I must say doctor Hoffman is by far the worst doctor I have ever seen in my life. And trust me I've seen a whole lot more doctors than the average person. Stay away from this jerk.

Dr Hoffman has always been very attentive and open & upfront. I agree w/reviewer as 'not sugar coating' the facts. I do however feel the office (and doctor) lack in the follow-up field. And it is a tad annoying that there seems confusion as to what the follow-up pertains to (ie.. test results, etc). Maybe better notes in that file?
