Dr. Dara Jennifer Sakolsky, MD

Saw her for two years because I was under 18 and my parents thought she was the best. Probably because she puts her “Reasonable and professional Dr.” mask on when parents are in the room. Always gave the fakest smile and glanced at her nurse/assistant every time I made a comment, like a middle school bully or something. She just sits there and nods “uh-huh!” every time you speak about your concerns, but makes it pretty clear that she just wants to write you a new prescription and add a nice chunk of money to her bank account. At the time I was seeing her, I struggled with a hair pulling disorder. She liked to make me take off my hats/scarves so she could inspect my hair, or lackthereof. This was incredibly humiliating. One day when I had more hair, she touched it without asking if she could, and asked “is this all YOUR hair?” Cruel. She could never remember any significant details about my life, despite having me as a patient for so long. Every time I went in, I would mention my… boyfriend. I mentioned one day that he had visited me and had to go home which made me feel sad. Knowing full well my boyfriend’s story, she roles her eyes and says “Did he get deployed or something?” as if to shame me for missing him, or just because she can’t remembet a darn thing that is important to her patients. So incredibly glad I finally quit seeing her. Also broke some privacy laws by telling me she also saw a friend of mine and letting me know that my friend had talked about me in her own separate appointment. Just run. Run away. Do not see her. I would leave my appointments feeling worse about myself. I’d even avoid going sometimes because I didn’t want to sit there and be mocked by a medical professional.
