Dr. David Bernard Altshuler, MD

My wife had two surgery's with Dr David and his team. The first surgery was delayed while in the pre op room due to lab results that had been taken 4 days prior but not read until the pre op room. When I asked how this could've possibly happened and explained to the Dr. that we had waited months, put our entire lives on hold for this surgery and had thousands of dollars in hotels and other bills all for him to pull the rug on us in the pre op room. Dr. David told me in a very inappropriate tone "well I'm not your boss or your accountant or a hotel manager, I'm a Dr. and if she dies are you gonna tell me you put your whole life on hold, or what are you gonna say then ?" This was wildly inappropriate and I was apologized to for his behavior by multiple who were present. Dr. If you read this. Threatening someone's spouse with their death is not an appropriate way to act around others in a professional medical setting, even if you are upset. While he did successfully get the… surgery rescheduled promptly and then delivered a successful surgery. The problems Continued. The first surgery was 17 hours, the anesthesia team botched putting my wife in a comfortable position causing a blister the size of a NFL football that lasted for almost 2 months and caused her more pain then the area where her skull was drilled into. She was also Never given any rounds of antibiotics after the first surgery in the hospital or when she was discharged, this led to her being readmitted 12 days later with meningitis. Several medical professionals have questioned why she was not given any antibiotics during that time. The second surgery was a direct result of "his team" not properly closing her incision during the first surgery. This isn't my opinion, this is what Dr. David told us. I will say second surgery did go rather smooth, however it would have not been necessary in a world where Dr. David's team gave us proper care the first time around. We are grateful to have her tumor out and to be trending forward in her recovery but feel as if the road to get here was paved with obstacles that Dr. David's team could have prevented.

Dr altshuler is one of the least experienced surgeons in this department. Dr. Thomas and Dr. adams are much better
