Dr. David Paul Arnstein, MD

I have had a few experiences with Dr. Arnstein. He did a surgery on my 6 year old daughter and he had me get a needle biopsy prior to a proceedure in 2009. Although he isn't the warmest, friendliest Doctor that we see, he is by far extremely knowledgable and he does care about his patients. He always takes the time to explain every little detail to the extreme so we can all understand and I appreciate that about him. My only gripe is that it takes longer than needed for his staff to return reports or get test results back to you. I have waited over 5 months for a specific test result and it was only after my 4th and final nasty phone call did I have the report send to me that day. He has totally got to change that as it made me mad enough to not recommend him to a family friend whose child needed the same operation.

I would rather have a very knowledgeable doctor than a bubbly, cheerleader-like, friendly doctor. I went to Dr. David Arnstein about 5 years ago for a large cyst in my sinuses. He was recommended by my family doctor. Unfortunately he was not covered under my insurance. I went to him anyway because I found information about him on the internet. He is a research doctor and therefore I expected him to be very knowledgeable and current. I found that he listened to me and was serious. He also reduced his bills for the office visits because my insurance would not pay any of the amount. He did an excellent job explaining the problem and the possible long-term risks of not having surgery. At the time, he used Good Samaritan hospital for surgeries and Good Sam was covered under my policy. Dr. Arnstein offered to reduce his own surgery fee (I did not even have to ask) so that it would be easier for me to afford. However, before going ahead with the surgery, I called my insurance company and… they told me that they they would deny the hospital charges if I used an out-of-network doctor and that I would have to pay over $20,000 out-of-pocket. I was unable to find anything significant about research or reputation on any of the in-plan ENTs. Therefore, I brought the list of in-plan ENTs south of San Francisco to Dr, Arnstein and asked if he was familiar with any of them. Dr. Arnstein took his time, without charging me, to review the list and recommended 3 of the ENTs. I ended up selecting the one that was associated with the El Camino Hospital group, which was a reasonable distance from where I lived. I had a successful surgery and thank Dr. Arnstein for his diagnosis, recommendations and generous reduction of his fees. Before I had the surgery to remove the cyst, I had many horrible, debilitating migraine headaches, which sometimes lasted for several days. After the surgery, I have not had one migraine to date. Dr. Arnstein did not pushed me to have surgery. Instead, he laid out the options and risks. I am glad I decided to have the surgery. I found Dr. Arnstein to be quite serious, but not at all uncaring. If you prefer a doctor with a cheerleader personality, then maybe Dr. Arnstein may not be your first choice.

I have nothing but good to say about Dr. David Arnstein.He diagnosed my problem quickly, tried appropriate easier treatments first, listened to my concerns, then performed surgery in a calm and professional manner. His sense of humor helped me through the procedure.I am very happy with the results and can recommend him to others.

Dr. Arnstein is a fantastic Doctor. He is incredibly competent and we are so grateful we found him. His recommendations fall in line with what all of the most current research reflects. He is extremely professional and our Pediatrician and one other specialist has described Dr. Arnstein as a conservative doctor. They told us, if Dr. Arnstein reccomends a procedure it is one we should strongly consider as he only does so when absolutely necessary. we adore Dr. Arnstein!!! He is so good and gentle with our son!

Dr. Arnstein has treated all three of my kids and my husband and myself as well. I could see him percieved as cool and needing to warm up his bedside manner, however, I have seen him treat our children with tenderness. And he was patient in answering my questions regarding procedures for all three children.These procedures have improved the quality of our kid's lives tremendously. And I'm grateful to h for talking me out of a series of procedures for apnea that another surgeon recommended that would've been painful and costly

Dr. Arnstein may or may not be a competent doctor but has no bedside manner whatsoever. We found him extremely arrogant, uncaring, cold, and quick to order procedures. Dr. Arnstein will make sure you feel worse than you already do after speaking with him. I have never seen him smile. He gives a strong impression you are a great inconvenience to him. I can't tell you how much we now despise this man.Parents: If he is your doctor and he pushing you to do ear tubes or another procedure, please get a second opinion. Dr. Arnstein is quick to put your child under the knife without considering other possibilities.In my humble opinion, Dr Arnstein should not interact with the public but instead consider doing research work alone.
