Dr. David Richard Chen, MD

After several years of being in his care I requested another neurologist in the office. At many appointments I would bring to his attention new symptoms of my M.S and asked if they were related to it. 80% of the time he would tilt his head and say “well, I’m not sure or say “ I don’t think so”. He never had a clear answer for anything. I never walked out of an appointment with answers to my questions. I would ask about the new M.S meds and if they were worth trying, again he would tilt his head and look doubtful.. several years back I complained of nerve pain, numbness and tingling in my hands. He suggested a nerve test. Results came back and he said it was the M.S and not carpel tunnel. Well after an appt with my new neurologist today she found the results of the test after I said the symptoms were continuing and found out I DO have carpel tunnel and she said I should’ve had surgery years ago. Even she was surprised at his diagnosis. Last year after having another Brain MRI he… discovered I had lumps on my thyroid but wasn’t too concerned about it because apparently that’s normal at my age (55) but he had me do a biopsy anyway. When the results came back he was on vacation so I had to sweat it out til he got back. On the Monday he got back I was expecting a call but didn’t get one so I called on Tuesday and left a message, no call back. I called Tuesday and Wednesday with no luck of him calling back. I had an appt on Thursday with my gynecologist who just so happened to mention the results of the test which were negative, Thank God ????. As I looked relieved she asked if I already knew and I told her no and explained how my phone calls were not returned.she looked a little annoyed about that. I did have an appt with him the following week though and at that appt I have to say I wasn’t in a good mood considering so I told him how I felt about making me wait and not calling me back ( and I wasn’t very nice about it) he responded with “ well I knew I’d see you today and since it was negative there wasn’t a rush to call” I swear I could’ve slapped him right then and there. He might’ve known it was negative but I didn’t til my other dr told me. There is nothing good about Dr Chen and I advise you stay clear of him..

Promptly nailed a diagnosis of MG and prescribed a drug to keep it under control. Easy to communicate with in person or via email.

God! Don't ask me about the valley med because it's the worse. I hit my head to the wall and next thing you know I couldn't study and go to school. I went to dr. chen and he said I'll be alright. Still 1 year and 2 month from that date I still lag in school because I cant study and have difficulty learning and memorizing. Every time I went to my appointment he would come do so silly nerve check and ask me how I feel and I would tell him and he would be okay see you in 2 months; no feed back, nothing!

Very upset that Dr Chen Neurologist does not understand or feels he would treat ADD & ADHD even if I have been an adult patient with this for over 20 years. He said it is not a disorder of the "BRAIN" and is referring me to a psychiatrist. Neurologist should study all disorders of the brain.. even if they do not understand it.. that is why they are in that field right??? Very upset to have to explain this disorder to a doctor specializing in Brain Disorders.... He needs more schooling!!!
