Dr. David Scott Coykendall, MD

If you are needing hernia surgery as I did, the best decision I EVER made was to have Dr. Coykendall do my hernia surgery. It was my first surgery, I was terrified, I waited for a long time, wore the "support" for over a year, worried, avoided doing stuff,(I had a reduceable inguinal hernia on the left side), and interviewed 3 other local surgeons, (one who my internist recommended), and was not happy with them. Finally I realized i had to have the surgery, I found Dr. Coykendall with a search, went to see him and knew he was the one. He made me feel comfortable, explained everything perfectly, answered all my questions, super friendly, and answered a few of my calls personally, (amazing in this day)! The surgery went extremely well, the location Dr. uses was excellent, (Surgery Center in Palm Beach Gardens), my recovery time was incredible, walked the next day, and I am 71), I needed only 1 pain pill the first night, and barely took even an Ibuprovin after that, (I do… recommend the stool softeners and Gas-X for a day or 2, easy, no problems just gentle relief). Dr. Coykendall saw me right after the surgery, (although due to anesthesia my memory of that meeting is still a bit hazy!), told me all I needed to know, and actually called me the next day to see how I was. My incisions healed amazingly fast, (when my nurse friend saw the work Dr. Coykendall had done she said "Wow, this Dr. does excellent work). Also, Ginny in his office is one of the nicest people I have met, and has the ability to understand, communicate, and put you at ease almost instantly. Well, It's been 3 weeks, I am walking, doing most everything I did, avoiding heavy lifting, and gym for another week or so, no pain, and only the slightest mild discomfort that goes away after a minute or so getting up after sitting a long time, (don't sit a long time, get up and walk is the lesson here). I am also a Red Cross instructor, and a certified Emergency First Responder, so I do know a little about the medical stuff, and if you need Hernia surgery, Dr. Coykendall is the BEST choice you can make, he is a hernia SPECIALIST, it's all he does, not a "jack of all trades surgeon" doing all other surgeries as well as hernias, I have learned from a lot of time spent with Dr's and medical folks, you want the Dr. that is the best in what you need, for hernias Dr. Coykendall is the best. So, as another reviewer did, you are more worried about "political correctness", if people wear a mask 20 feet away, never use the Dr. for surgery, and just have to complain and whine for NO logical reason, that's your choice, but if you care about getting the BEST surgery for your hernia, with the BEST hernia Doctor, Dr. Coykendall is the way to go, and after you meet and talk to him, after the surgery you will believe me, and be extremely satisfied. Please feel free, if you want to talk with me, I have no problem with you getting my info and contacting me directly to confirm all I have said is true and genuine, for me Dr. Coykendall was the best choice I ever could have made, and I am so glad I did.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Coykendall and his staff. I traveled from NC to have abdominal wall reconstruction. When I first realized I needed surgery I began researching all I could about my condition and the different types of repairs available. I chose to reach out to a half dozen or so surgeons and hernia repair centers. When I called Dr. Coykendall's office I did not expect to actually speak to the surgeon but after asking Ginny a few questions she put the doctor on the line. He spent his time listening to my concerns and dispelling myths associated with mesh and hernia repair. He had a no pressure approach and even recommended surgeons in my area. After contacting them, and feeling like a number, I went back and scheduled with Dr. Coykendall. I am so glad I did. Six weeks out now and have had no complications. Dr. Coykendall and his staff score A+ in the three factors you look for in a provider: accessibility, competence, and accommodation. Five stars all the way!!!

Tried to make an appointment today. First phone call I was told I would get a callback when she got to her computer. Over an hour later, when I had given up on them calling, I missed the call. Called them back,(still trying to figure out why) and got hung up on. If this is what you have to go through just to make an appointment, I’ll find somewhere else to go. This doctor may be good, but his staff is doing him no favors.

Without reservation, I compliment and refer Dr. David Coykendall not only for his skill and expertise I experienced; but also, for his focus on patient communication. After careful research and interviewing two other sources, I chose to trust him with the hernia repair my abdomen needed. Not only was he attentive and caring in answering all my questions (pre and post surgery); but his passion and attention to detail for his work was evident throughout. This surgery was no small event for me; so my careful search combined with choosing Dr. Coykendall paid off and I heartily thank him!

Dr Coykendall saved my life and that is all there is to it. I'm thankful to have gotten him at Jupiter emergency room. He explained everything to me and my family and that helped put us at ease. Now that I'm out of the hospital, I've seen him in his office and met his nurse. She is just as caring as him. Thank you Dr Coykendall!

I am not one to go to Doctors or Hospitals. I feel very fortunate to be under such good care with Dr. Coykendall. His diagnosis was spot on and his bedside manner is excellent. He is professional, respectful and a straight shooter.

I've always said that I don't care about a surgeon's personality; since I don't expect a long-term relationship, all I care about is his skill. Well, Dr. Coykenall combines skill with a terrific bedside manner. It was my first visit and he took all the time necessary to explain and assure me of the upcoming procedure. After minor surgery, he was caring and solicitous of my welfare. If I need further surgery, I'll turn to him without trepidation.
