Dr. David Robert Craney, MD

Dr. David Craney has been my Kaiser doctor for several years. He is an allopathic oriented doctor, but within the limitations of that orientation, he is very good. He is knowledgeable, concerned, respectful, and very responsive in terms of ordering tests and responding to messages. He is an attentive listener too and has a sense of humor. What else do you want? It is a patient’s responsibility to seek additional services such as chiropractic and nutritional advice. He is a good medical professional.

Dr. Craney prescribed two medications for me which should not have been prescribed together. This resulted in symptoms resembling a heart condition. I fired him and got a new physician who quickly diagnosed the problem and took me off one of the meds Dr. Craney prescribed. The symptoms disappeared. Apart from that, Dr. Craney seems humorless. I wonder if he really enjoys being a physician.

He really needs to retire. I chose him because of his specialty and education but he is terrible with people. If you go to him for a specific problem, you have to know what the right questions are to ask because he doesn't care enough to examine you and ask questions. Initially I liked that he always had appointments open even the same day, but now I know why —patients don't like him.

I have known Dr. Craney for almost 15 years. I have been a patient off and on for about 6. He is conscientious,courteous and cares about his patients. He is very approachable and non judgmental. If you follow his advise things will usually work out. I trust him and depend on him. I like that he will pick up the phone and call you and responds to emails quickly.
