Dr.Epstein was doing a temporary one week rotation at the hospital where my father was admitted. My father had a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease for a year and was rapidly getting worse despite multiple medications. Rather than assuming my father's symptoms were due to the Parkinson's disease, Dr.Epstein took extra time and effort to make sure we were not missing a different diagnosis. With his excellent clinical skills, he made a totally different diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus which subsequently led my father to have surgery for a shunt. With the surgery, my father made remarkable progress; Dr.Epstein essentially gave my father his quality of life back. I cannot thank him enough for his persistence, compassion and care he delivered my father. Being a physician myself, Dr.Epstein reminded me what practicing medicine is truly about-caring for patient. I would highly recommend Dr.Epstein to anyone looking for a kind, intelligent and compassionate neurologist.

As a former Chief Hospital Corpsman who has worked alongside many Navy doctors, I must honestly say that Dr. Epstein is a rare breed; a true professional in every sense of the word. I originally went to see him with a complicated situation, and from day one, he has shown compassion, professionalism and dedication to helping me feel better. Every time I call, he returns my calls. I never wait long for him in the office. He never makes me feel like all I am is another RVU. He actually puts his hands on me and does a thorough examination. He asks questions, listens to my concerns and shows that he genuinely cares. I have never trusted someone so fully with my care. I can honestly say that I have never met a more consummate professional than Dr. Epstein. The Navy is lucky to have a physician like him. He is someone that all physicians should emulate. He has my most highest recommendation for anyone who needs compassionate, methodical care.

Dr. Epstein is a fantastic person, his demeanor is just what you would expect from an well educated, caring, and experienced doctor. I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and prior to seeing Dr. Epstein, I was taking 14 different medications daily. Outwardly, my health wasn't improving, and my mental capacity was dull. After the arduous task of deciphering the different medicines AND listening to my concerns, Dr. Epstein was able to help me down to only 4 meds a day...which my body and mind responded more positive to. Along with the medication puzzle, I had facial palsy, a constant severe headache, and my feet and hands ache. When other doctors wanted to take drastic measures, Dr. E remained patient and confident. He was able to test and establish that I still had vital nerve(s) in my face. So instead of another surgery (grafting nerve(s) from my tongue to my eye...yes, you did read that correctly), under his advice I waited and although a long time, the nerve(s)grew back and I… avoided a scary/risky/unnecessary surgery. My time with Dr. Epstein was extensive and I am confident in his ability and knowledge.

It took a while to get an appointment. The wait was worth it!!!He was patient, kind, considerate, VERY thorough, and HE LISTENED!! He has made a diagnosis and we are hoping for the best. He truly has tried and has made several suggestions in case this does not work. I feel very comfortable in his care.
