He left post op patients abruptly with no hand off or referrals. My surgery is not healing well and I am left trying to find a new doctor weeks after surgery. I trusted him and what he did was wrong. No one us sure how to help me as the procedure he did is complex and not too many perform it. I am left in pain and still unable to walk with no answers and other doctors unsure how to solve it because few perform the procedure he did on my foot.

As always doctor Kay is amazing. He is professional and does not sugar coat the diagnosis.

I am 86 years old and I had a total ankle replacement. It has been 6 weeks and I am walking on a walker.

I went to Dr. Kay last year and he told me I needed an operation on my ankle. I immediately said "let's do it now". His response was - you will know when you want it done - no rush. That put me at ease. I recently went back only to ask him a series of questions I had typed up. He took an incredible amount of time with me to explain everything that will happen. He took away all my fears. Deborah, his administrative assistant, was fabulous! I trust this man.

I saw Dr. Kay today, with a painful foot and bone-on-bone in the knee. I had recent x-rays of the foot and ankle, as well as x-rays of both knees. It’s complicated. Dr. Kay pulled up an x-ray of my foot, pointing out to me the various things he saw, what would normally be done, but how to proceed given that he thinks I need joint replacement in both knees. He considered the entire situation. I was soooo pleased that I found someone who wasn’t looking at one part, but rather saw the whole patient. BTW, I am an elderly, obese woman. He treated me with respect. He did not use my weight as an excuse for what is wrong. Love Dr. Kay!

He operated on my ankle a few weeks ago and did an impeccable job. However, he is very quick/vague with his appointments. It's unfortunate because he is amazing at what he does and holds a tremendous amount of knowledge. He says a few words, does a quick check on the procedure area and tells you when he wants to see you next. He doesn't seem comfortable answering/asking questions about the procedure, recovery process, and next steps in the process. He certainly won't ask if you have any questions/concerns, so make sure you do research on your own or have questions ready to ask. For how much you get billed for, you would expect more thorough appointments. Ultimately, if you're looking for an experienced, professional surgeon, look no further but don't expect to be cared for once you are done with the surgery.

I was going to cancel my surgery because of fear. I am prone to infections. Also, regarding anesthesia, .although my body does not look fragile, I am one of those persons who has to take the lowest dose of a med or half of the lowest dose because my body is very receptive to meds. I got violently ill after a surgery with the pain meds. I changed my mind after hearing many positive comments from some previous patients of Dr. Kay or the Crystal Clinic. Also, I talked w people who are employed in the medical field and the med ins. field & I heard that Dr Kay was "one of the best " in the ankle surgery field. After meeting w Dr Kay and his staff, I feel that I am in the hands of dedicated experts. Surgery is Dec. 12. Patricia
