Dr. David Richard Missimo, MD

I saw Dr. Missimo for about 15 years, primarily because I started seeing him in my teens and did not know anything else. In my mid 20s, I more and more felt like I was reduced to a line on his check list rather than a patient. I did not feel like he actually listened to me, and I got the impression he didn't really care about me. His front desk staff were curt and dismissive on many occasions, and they were rarely helpful or understanding. The reason that I finally changed doctors was that during the start of Covid I had travel plans unexpectedly extended and ran out of medication. I called Missimo's office several times trying to get meds and they refused to do anything, despite knowing how serious withdrawal from the medications was. I switched doctors that day and my new psychiatrist made me realize just how bad my experience with Dr. Missimo was. I cannot in good faith recommend Dr. Missimo to anyone - a psychiatrist that does not care about their patients should not be seeing… patients.

First off Dr. Missimo is a respectable psychiatrist who I have been going to for years. The only downfall is the lady at the front who is rude on the phone and gives you a tone like you are wasting her time. I would give him 5 stars if he had another person at the front desk who was friendlier.

Dr. Missimo is a good psychiatrist who is personable and professional. I have found him to be genuine, caring, and kind. He is the type of doctor that we all wish still existed before the healthcare system made it almost impossible for doctors to practice medicine. My daughter and I have had some unusual health issues over the past few years. As a result, I have encountered over forty medical doctors across many specialties. Dr. Missimo is a gem and one of the best doctors that I’ve ever seen.

In 1996 I entered alcohol detox and have not had a drink since. A week after discharge I asked the psychiatrist who admitted me for some meds to relax me. His Rx did not work well. He informed me that the drug I sought was nothing more than booze in a pill. Shortly after that I visited Missimo and within minutes he wrote me a benzodiazepine Rx. He increased the dose and added Ambien as a kicker. I liked the relief but did not know he was addicting me to a controlled substance. Too late to sue him, but any reputable psychiatrist will tell you this was not just a slight misstep, it was MALPRACTICE. I want to warn any future patients that detox from alcohol is tough enough, but who would expect to have addiction problems from some quack who hides behind God and presents himself as a divine healer as he commits gross negligence. I intend to obtain satisfaction, or this is just the beginning of spreading the news of this sad sack.

I have turned him over to the DEA and will not quit until he has paid for his malpractice.

You can find the drugs he's got you addicted to on the streets, because he has sucked your wallet dry and he can't write you any more. He's your guy if this is what you want. He wants your money and does not care about you. Good luck. I'm trying to put him in prison, where he belongs. I've got shrinks to back up his malpractice.

A doctor who's lost his way and probsbly burned out.

I went to Dr. Missimo on the recommendation of a friend, and I found him to be very compassionate and helpful. He is a psychiatrist, so although there was a counseling aspect to our meeting, it was not as in depth as you would find in an established relationship with a therapist or a psychologist, which was as I expected. Dr. Missimo listened patiently and compassionately to the symptoms that I was experiencing and responded thoughtfully. When I expressed hesitation or had questions about certain medications, he was extremely respectful of my concerns and went out of his way to assure me that, although he has his recommendations, the ultimate treatment plan is entirely my decision.
