Dr. David Nelson

Dr. David W. Nelson, originally from Nebraska, graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry after choosing his career choice in sixth grade. Forever interested in providing the best information and technology to help people maintain and improve their vision, he has now practiced optometry for over 30 years. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Business with a diversified Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in financial administration in 1991. Dr. Nelson served in 2001-02 as the 80th President of the American Optometric Association following his eight years of service on the Board of Trustees. He served as the AOA's representative to the World Council of Optometry meetings in South Africa and Finland (1999 amd 2000) and sattending meetings in Japan for AOA's Ophthalmic Council in 2001. Dr. David W Nelson became board certified in 2013 a certification that approximately fifteen percent of practicing optometrists in the United States hold. …Dr Nelson has served as Vice President for Professional Relations with Optos, PLC (2014-17), ArcticDx (2011-2012) and Eyemart Express (2023-24). He has provided educational lectures across the United Sates for optometric colleagues in new technological advances for Laser Diagnostics, ArctixDx, Lumenis Be, nutritional lectures for Nordic Naturals, Macuhealth and Pure Encapsulations. He has consulted for several companies - Silhouette Optical, Pure Encapsulations, Nordic Naturals, and Signet Armolite. Dr Nelson resides in Franklin with his wife, Sheryl and their son Charlie. He enjoys golf, playing the piano and listening to country music.
