Dr. David Atteberry Nethery, MD

Review of my experience with Dr. Nethery: Theme words: impatient, not really listening, inadequate explanations, impersonal, not responsive to questions about outcome. Dr. Nethery doesn’t have time to really listen and try to meet YOUR vision goals. I thoroughly explained how I wanted the same correction as my current glasses which give me decent close and mid-range vision. Thought he was crystal clear on that although he hardly repeated anything back to me. I can’t tell that the IOL he put in has ANY correction at all. Everything looks the same as from my left UN-corrected eye. He offered no explanation or solution and said I would ‘just have to go ahead and fix the left eye and get glasses right away.’ He got irritated when I asked about the lack of correction, and didn’t answer except to say in effect, ‘Well you are 80 years old, so don’t expect too much. Nothing can be done.’ At that point he rushed out after telling me that LIE. Another doctor has already said, ‘YES, we… can fix that sort of ERROR in the cataract surgery with LASIK. And obviously the wrong lens was selected for the implant.’ Numerous doctors on YouTube confirm that very thing. My new Doc said the left eye would be handled per my wishes. So now I’m going to be out perhaps $2,000 to get my right eye fixed. New Doc operated on my left eye, put in a -2.25 equivalent OTL (-0.75) and it is wonderful. Exactly what I wanted in the right eye. When I put a -2.25 contact in my “Nethery eye” (right eye) the two work perfectly together – good close and moderate-distance vision. Just like my under-corrected glasses have always given me. Now I can either wear a contact in my right eye or get Lasik for a couple thousand dollars. I consider that my eyesight is my most important sense. Bottom line is I have never been treated like that by any surgeon/PCP/nurse or whomever, so I must conclude that Nethery has perhaps lost his focus on quality and now pursues QUANTITY. Read the reviews; I’m not the only person who had this experience. If you enjoy being herded like a cow in a cattle drive, no questions asked, go to Dr. Nethery. --Frustrated and Damaged April 2026
