Dr. David E Norbeck JR., MD

Unless you want to feel insulted, humiliated, disrespected, and mistreated by a doctor and his staff, stay away from the practice of Dr. David E. Norbeck, Jr. Last week's encounter with him and his staff was the worst encounter I have ever had with any medical personnel in my life. Last week, I went to Dr. Norbeck's office to seek treatment for a badly sprained & broken ankle. I could not walk as a result of my injuries. Despite that, his receptionist was rude and visibly annoyed by me not being able to get up and walk to her seated position at the reception desk. I asked her politely a few times, if she could come out of her seat and take my temperature by coming out from behind her reception desk to come closer to me to take my temperature because I could not walk on my sprained and broken ankle. She refused and proceeded to be rude and very unpleasant to me and my husband, to the point of disbelief. It was unbelievable to witness this receptionist's amount of laziness and… complete lack of care for my condition. After a while, it reached my threshold and I tossed her clip board back to her reception countertop. She complained to the doctor, and when he came out in the waiting room, instead of apologizing for her complete lack of care for my condition, he got in my face, and began yelling at me, and scolding me for not being nice to his employee. In addition to Dr. Norbeck behaving in such a rude, uncaring, and completely unprofessional manner towards me, he did not practice the safety protocols that Lake County Health Department requires during this time of the COVID pandemic. His distance from my face when he was yelling at me was only 18 INCHES!!! I was in shock, not to mention appalled and disgusted by this behavior. No patient should ever be treated this way, let alone a patient who is in need of medical care with a fractured and sprained ankle, who is in physical pain, and who is doing everything possible to avoid catching COVID during a pandemic. I will post this complaint in every available avenue to make other patients aware of how they can expect to be treated by this practice. If this is how he treats his patients - he is not to be trusted, regardless of his previous reputation. This is simply not acceptable in any practice.

I had a problem with my knee. Dr Norbeck got me right in the same day! He listened to me, and examined my knee and took xrays and then explained everything to me. His nurse Kiley was so nice and helpful, and his receptionist Bernie was so kind. What a great team! I needed an MRI and they got it done the same day and then I saw Dr Norbeck back and he explained everything to me in terms I could understand. He also told me I didn't need surgery -yea! and got me better with PT.

Just got done seeing Dr Norbeck. He was so patient and kind. He listened to all my complaints and got xrays and explained them to me. We talked about options and he gave me cortisone shots which didn't hurt at all.

Dr Norbeck was very helpful. He listened to all my concerns and took the time to answer all my questions in language I could understand. He was kind and compassionate, and was interested in helping me avoid surgery if possible. I like that!

Dr. Norbeck didn't want to be there. Came in and asked me how a medication was working for me and I am not even taking that medication. Didn't even acknowledge when I said I had had an allergic reaction to the one I had been one. Only offered a cortisone shot as a solution. I could have saved the copay and he could have called to tell me the nothing that he did. I didn't need to have the follow up appointment.

I had a few appointments with him. Dr Norbeck doesnt spend time with you. Doesnt explain anything or what to do, just waits for you to ask questions. When you ask, he seems uninterested in you. Rushes you in and out as quick as possible. He assumes his patients should know everything it seems. Not good. Disappointing. I dont understand doctors that are like this.

Disinterested, dismissive. Never again!

Good doctor. Explains everything carefully.
