Dr. David Richard Schmidt, MD

I can't say enough about the quality and professionalism I experienced in having a total knee replacement with Dr. Schmidt. He and his staff both made it as good an experience as is possible. If you are on the fence about getting this operation done, I can only say that I have my leg back and I'd do it over again without hesitation.

I had recently gotten at mpfl surgery. The staff in both facilities have been professional as well as humorous. Dr. Schmidt has preformed a phenomenal surgery. He offers his phone number to all his patients for questions or emergencies. Not to mention that he has responded immediately to my calls in the late hours of the night for my emergencies. Unlike others he is there to help 24/7. I am very happy with his work.

Take the time to understand your patients injuries and complications. Not everything is an easy and quick fix. Patient care is not something that can be compromised.

Dr. David Schmidt is one of the most professional and compassionate doctors I have ever been around. His bedside manner, and level of detail goes beyond what I was accustomed to receiving as a patient. I would highly recommend Dr. Schmidt to anyone seeking an orthopedic surgeon!

I tore my ACL, MCL, lateral meniscus a few years back playing football. I was referred to Dr Schmidt. He was a very nice and professional Dr. I felt the initial surgery went well. I healed up pretty quickly and felt strong, but I eventually had to go back bc I felt like my knee was loose and not extending all the way, as if it was being blocked. This caused a sort of dull pain and my muscle seemed to get sapped of their stamina far to quickly. After meeting with Dr. Schmidt, I definitely felt that I was blown off. I was told to buy glucosamine and chondroitin which would help the joint... I got tired of the lack of improvement and went back a few months later. He then ordered an MRI which revealed a cyclops lesion, which is a build up of scar tissue within the knee. This required a second surgery to remove. Again, I healed fast and felt good but my initial MCL injury seemed to never heal right and still felt loose. I expressed my concerns at each follow up but was always given the same… response of, "that's how it will be, its still strong". As of today, yes my knee is strong and I have no problem running or jumping but my knee gives about 1/2-1" inside. The most unsettling feeling ever, and leads to buckling. If I lay on my side and try to raise my leg, there is a delay from the time my thigh is off the ground and my lower leg. I saw someone else make basically the same statement earlier, if you don't play for the Spurs or some equally competitive team, you will not have his full attention. I can't imagine Tim Duncan having to put up with a loose knee just bc that's how it will be... sorry for the length, that's years of my frustrations.
