simple visit. office was helpful and the doctor was caring and took care of my problem.

I am a patient of Dr. Silverstein's for several years. I met him after Sloan Kettering would no longer see me (they told me I didn't have any skin cancer history so to go to a local dermatologist). He found a melanoma that they had missed (boy, were they wrong). I have since had 2 other melanomas. His exams are really thorough (no one had looked at me as closely as he has). He is also friendly and just down to earth. I have referred several of my friends from my retirement community who have given me similar feedback about him.

Dr.David Silverstein is a dermatologist in Stony Brook, NY . I made an appointment with him on the recommendation of another excellent Dr. I see who knew him from school. He was not kind and he was a very sarcastic. I shared my issues with him briefly. I told him I had a very itchy scalp and scales with white edges and reddish purple in the middle. He responded. There is no such thing. No one has that. No one has purple. And he didn't see that. The young nurse in the room said nothing, smiling. He told me to stop picking at my scalp. He asked me ...Don't you have anything better to do with your time? I am on antidepressants and I felt worse than before I went to this appointment. I felt humiliated. He gave me nothing for the itch or inflammation or pain. I wish I never went to see him. He made me feel worse. He gave me nothing for my scalp discomfort and built up his own ego by putting me down. I was very happy with my visit. A very patient friendly doctor who did a very thorough exam asking if I had any concerns beforehand. Explained a few procedures in depth. I received a follow-up call the next day checking on a procedure done. The office very clean and his staff so pleasant. We would refer others to him

I've been looking for a good dermatologist for a long time now. Finally found one. Granted, thus far I've only visited David Silverstein once, but the visit was everything I hoped for from a doc. He listened to all of the issues I wanted his feedback or help with, and took care of them, without rushing or being impatient. Seems like a very knowledgeable guy too. One minor thing they could improve on is, I had a small surgery done to remove something from the skin, and would have appreciated if they called me in a few days or a week to let me know if they found anything and to follow up with me - which didn't happen.

He found a very small melanoma on my shoulder and it may have saved my life.
