Dr. David Albert Smith, MD

Was referred for my son. Called twice and waited 4 days for a response. Was called by a secretary who told me they do not take my insurance and that I would have to sign a contract promising to pay all of the fees. I asked whether the doctor was planning to call me to set up a time for intake, and she said, "I don't know." I am not impressed. I'm sure he's a good clinician, but I found the call from the secretary to be rude and dismissive. The message was, "Money is most important, and your insurance doesn't pay, so we aren't interested in helping you."

I agree with the second reviewer! Dr. A. Smith is an amazing psychiatrist who truly cares about each and every patient. It is for this reason that at times making your first appointment may be a slight wait which is understandable. Now and then you may have to wait if the patient in front of you needs a small amount of extra care. I NEVER minded because I knew without a doubt that when I was the one who needed the the extra time/care he provided it without hesitation. Dr. Smith always goes the extra mile for his patients whether in the office, at home or even on vacation. I know that there were at least three years in a row when I was barely holding on I could not handle it when he went on vacation which he definitely deserved to do! Despite having someone who was covering his patients, he would allow me to call him on vacation to talk. I know I spoke to him in Hawaii, the Florida Everglades and the other spot I cannot remember. He saw me multiple times a week, talked to me… after hours and was instrumental in my recovery from being a sexual abuse victim. It was only with his help that I was able to forgive my father for me, not for my father something I never thought I would be able to do. He really cares about you and you can feel that from the first time you speak to him. As a health care provider I do not know another doctor I would recommend with the total confidence, absolute respect and admiration.

My whole family has used Dr. Smith's services at various points in our lives. He is a brilliant and fantastic psychiatrist.Ever heard of a psychiatrist being responsible for someone else's crimes? You think that would hold up in court? Asinine. Diagnosis is an elusive process that depends on tons of factors.

Poor doctor. Misdiagnosed me 15 years ago and prescribed me medications that only worsened my condition. In my agitated state I ended up committing crimes that I still have on my record today. Dr. Smith could have done so much more but instead of looking for the correct treatment he went with the drug manufacturers that wined and dined him the most.
