Dr Vickery listens to what I am saying and responds appropriately. He not only provides excellent health care but has referred me to specialists that are as open and easy to work with as he is.

Great Doctor and great staff. Dr. Gus actually listens and acknowledges you when you speak. He is a good person, and he loves to converse about any subject you are interested in. Highly intelligent and will treat you the best way he knows how!

"Gus" Vickery is the most professional, yet personal, caring doctor I've ever experienced. He TRULY LISTENS, he brainstorms options quickly, he is humorous and exceedingly available though phenomenally busy. I have known him for 10 years and he has pulled me through a lot of tough, medical challenges. He has become deeply interested in holistic medicine, in eating nutritious foods . He is an adventurer, always ready for a new exciting challenge like his new office SONA in East Asheville. I am thankful that he is there for me when I need him. I suspect hundreds of patients feel the same

Great experience.... Dr. Mayer was compassionate, caring, and very smart. He took way more time than most Dr's would have with me to make sure everything was covered and I understood. I would suggest him to anyone who was looking for a good Dr.

He is a very good doctor. I had a condition and other doctors said I didn't and Dr. Vickery gave me the right meds for the condition and I say he saved my life.

Disclaimer- this is a long review, but there are several things that I would like to point out. Reach if you are considering going to him as a primary care. I was interested in seeing Dr. Mayer for my primary care, because I have heard great things about Osteopathic medicine. However, my experience with Dr. Mayer and his nurse, Alley was a disaster. I was waiting on my medical transcripts to transfer, so we could talk about meditations. Instead of being prepared to have this conversation during my visit, he said, we will call you to discuss this. As a patient, I would not prefer to talk with his nurse over the phone about my medications, especially with this being our first medication discussion. Considering their level of being of unprepared, I figured my only other option was to do this or wait until my next appointment. Our conversation: Alley (the nurse) said to me and I quote "Dr. Mayer said that you failed to mention you were on medication X and he says you need to… be back on it." I did not FAIL to mention this. We talked about it, in detail. He failed to note that we had this conversation. He also failed to remember that I told him medication X did not work and was the entire reason I wanted to talk to him about this. Mind you, there were no apologies at all. Alley called me the next day and said Dr. Mayer suggest a new medication. Would you like me to call it in? I said: Well, I would love to know more about it. Alley tells me to go look it up online. Not only did I have this to deal with, but the staff at the front desk acts like they could care less about my experience. They are rude, speak incomplete sentences, and did not even treat me like a human. Not to mention, I'd have to wait 45 minutes in the doctors office to even see Dr. Mayer. I called the office manager and left a voicemail, that I would no longer like to see Dr. Mayer and to please call me back, so I could discuss the issues that I was having. Did not even call back. This is not a customer service issue. This is not Wal-Mart. This is a doctors office, where they are responsible for people's health. They should be more proactive in talking with their patients about what issues they are having. They are not willing to address their issues and make a more pleasurable experience for their current and future patients.
