Dr. Dawn Lowe Courtenay, MD

i can't say enough good things about this doctor. she spends time to talk about symptoms, personal life, medical history, and is diligent about follow up. very very highly recommended

My father went to Dr. Courtenay, but she was going by her unmarried name Dr. Lowe at the time. She is a horrible doctor. My father had problems that turned out to be cancer. She didn’t do proper tests when he started having symptoms (bad headaches, periodic loss of vision and dizziness) about 3 years before he was diagnosed with cancer. At one point he had a lump on his cheek. Without doing any tests to back up her diagnosis she told him it was a clogged salivary gland. Her solution was for him to suck on hard lemon drops. He did this and the lump kept getting bigger. He started losing weight, had constant diarrhea, couldn’t keep food down and still had headaches but she passed it off as a virus. This went on for months. We took him to the ER and found out he had cancer. The lump on his cheek was cancer. All of his symptoms were from cancer. He died 3 months after his diagnosis. We were told by his oncologist that if the proper tests had been done 3 years before his cancer would have… been found and would have been operable. Dr. Dawn Lowe Courtenay is the reason my father is dead. When we got copies of his medical records she had medical information about my father that wasn’t event true. She said he was diabetic, but he wasn’t. She also said the lump on his cheek was getting smaller, but as mentioned before it was getting bigger. If you care about your health and that of your family do not go to this doctor.

I have been going to this office for years. Had to see Dr Courtenay because my previous Dr left. I loved my previous Dr. I never clicked with Dr Courtenay. She always wanted for me to see a specialist. It was like she didn’t want to take care of my problems. I thought she was not qualified. No empathy at all.

We no longer ;ive in Indiana but whileliving in Sellersburg Dr. Lowe was my and my husband's doctor. She helped both of us with conditions we have. She has a great bedside manner and takes time to listen. The only problem I had was the friendliness of the front office staff and them following up on her orders to make appointments with specialists. You just have to call and keep reminding them you need the appointment made.

The office staff is the most incompetent group of people I have ever had to deal with. They will not answer phone calls, respond to pharmacy request for prescription refills, or return phone calls. The message for the voicemail even says they will contact you within 48 hours, which doesn't ever happen. There is no way it should take 2 days to make a return phone call with a capable staff!! I am thoroughly disgusted with dealing with this office and would not recommend them to anyone.

Dr. Lowe jeopardized my life by sending me home with a Pulsimeter and Oximeter and telling me that, based on those results, I didn't have sleep apnea. I went to another doctor at another practice and they actually got me the test I needed. Turns out I have sleep apnea afterall and could have had a heart attack without my CPAP. Still took my kids here, because this is the only pediatrician for miles. When I brought my own kids in to be seen I told them I wouldn't be paying my bill because they nearly did me in by not diagnosing me properly. The staff told me that "poor people like me don't deserve medical help." I kid you not. I took my kids downstairs to the Immediate Care Center where they were seen by a kind doctor and staff. Immediate Care Center, upon hearing my story, confirmed that this is how many patients there are treated by Harper, White and Lowe's office and there's nothing they can do about it because Harper, White and Lowe own the building. I'm not… taking my children back, and I wouldn't recommend this office to my worst enemy. They're a little like Scrooge, they believe we should "decrease the surplus population" through lack of medical help based on assumed socio-economic status.

Dawn Lowe is very concerned and does not mind taking her time to listen
