Dr. Dawna Lee Gutzmann, MD

This is probably the worst psychiatrist I've ever seen. She lacks good bedside manners. On her website, she advertises that she treats bipolar disorder. She made it clear to me when I came in that she doesn't treat too many people with it. She asked me if I was currently attending school. I informed her that I wanted to pursue a career as a paramedic. She made a snide comment, questioning how I could do the job due to my OCD. She implied that I would not make it as one because of it. She continued to bill me and now has me on collection. I won't be paying anything. She was not worth the money. The worst doctor I've met.

I've read the other reviews about Dr. Gutzmannn and I can see how people might find her rude. She does not have a "touchy-feely" personality. However, she is attentive and helpful during my appointments. She always responds to my questions promptly. Could be she is not a fit for some, but I have had no problems and I appreciate her responsiveness.

Wish I paid attention to the previous reviews. Left a video chat with her extremely discouraged and lost. Waste of a time. She should not be in any sort if mental health career.

Beautiful soul, intelligent and insightful...

DO NOT RECCOMEND FOR PEOPLE WITH SOCIAL ANXIETY, SHE DOES NOTHING TO MAKE YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE TALKING TO HER AND IS VERY CONDESCENDING. As soon as I came in she was rude to me. I'm very tall and dress sort of gothic (all black, black hair, thick black eyeliner) and as soon as she saw me she stared at me like I was some kind of freak. Was rude and judgmental the entire time and made me feel extremely uncomfortable talking about my personal problems and overall treated me like I was below her and that my opinion on what medications worked for me did not matter. She ended the session early and told me she could not help me. I cried the entire drive home feeling extremly discouraged and hopeless.

I have referred my own patients to Dr. Gutzman for 25 years. She is the kindest and most professional and skillful psychiatrist I know. I can see there are bad ratings here and that has not been my experience.

She was honestly mean, uninterested, not understanding, fully discouraged me from seeking help at all. She was very weirdly argumentative and made me feel so much worse than when I came in. I honestly think she is a danger to anyone struggling with mental health issues. Avoid her.

Not paying not one penny. She wasn’t worth it. Crappiest doctor eve. Where did she even attend medical school?

Saw her a few times as a psychiatrist from a recommendation from my not-so-great therapist. Dr Gutzmann is prompt and thorough when it comes to paperwork related to insurance, and so on. But I found her to be quite uninterested in really getting to know my problems--perhaps she reserves that kind of care and attention for her therapy patients only. What was also risky was that she never cared about follow-up appointments and was fine to just prescribe refills via email. She didn't get to the right combination and dosage of meds for me anyway. Curiously hesitant to name any specific diagnoses. Never seemed to propose a holistic approach--again, that may be exclusively for her therapy patients.
