Dr. Dean Robert Carpenter, MD

Dr. Carpenter delivered 6 of my children-everything from easy pregnancies and deliveries to complications and was brilliant. He is funny, compassionate, and there for you. He was there for every delivery, and for several, he sat up all night at the hospital for me. I cannot say enough good things about this man. He is a treasure.

Stay away. Staff is Rude and the doctor does not care about your well being.

Dr. Carpenter is my OBGYN he is the best my daughter went to him and she was pregnant with Twins and he was so good with her she was very high risk she had hyperemesis... he was sooo....bomb and now I have to health Twins boy & girl they are 7 now.. I thank you and the good lord for you...

Think of Mr. Carpenter everytime is have a Urinary tract infection. Never had one Mr. Carpenter messed up my bladder!!!! Soooooo upset that this so called doctor can keep you in surgery for 7hrs because he messed up and still be a so called doctor!!! The surgery was to be 1hr and 15min. what a terrible time and in the hospital for a week!!! Oklahoma Surgery Center did nothing that I know of about the crazy messed up surgery!! Thank God for my Urologist that was called!!! I will let anyone who asks me about a good Doctor to see know who not to see. On this web page you cant give a 0 but that is the rating I would give!!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Carpenter for many years. He has performed surgery on me and delivered most of my grandchildren. He is compassionate, competent and trustworthy. His staff has always been kind and helpful.

I went to Doctor Dean Carpenter when I got pregnant a year ago. I was a first time mom and a little nervous because I didn't know what to expect. He turned out to be the WORST doctor I have ever seen! His office staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. Doctor Carpenter was very rude and disrespectful. Any time I asked questions regarding my symptoms or my baby he would tell me "If you don't want to deal with it, you shouldn't have gotten pregnant." My husband and I had been trying to have a baby and were beyond ecstatic when we found out we were expecting. He treated me like I was a child. He kept pushing my ultrasounds back each time I came for a visit and we didn't find out what we were having until I was 30 weeks pregnant and seeing a different doctor. I'm so thankful my insurance switched me to a different obgyn when I was 26 weeks. I haven't seen Doctor Carpenter in almost a year and they're proceeding to harass me and send me bills when my insurance has paid them in full. He's… the last person on the planet I wanted touching my child when she came into this world and I do NOT recommend him to ANYONE.

Well back again! The one with the long 7hr surgery. Dr. Carpenter cost us an extra $6773.61 out of pocket not what Blue Cross/Blue Cross paid. This is only for the Hospital, second doctor called in to fix what HE DID! and only the cost to the bladder. The amount he charged in not added and yes I paid him every penny. Right down to the $15.70 that I was charged on the last bill!!!!!!!! This is not right. I asked about the time the surgery took and Dr. Carpenter said it took so long because he wants to be sure before he cuts anyone open. Well asked the doctor that fixed my bladder about it and he said the Foundation Surgery Center did not have equipment need for him to fix my bladder! Really Dr. Carpanter and his nurse(wife) talked of how the bladder is hit all the time and they have me at a Surgery Center that cant handle the surgery. I believe I was not told the truth time and time again. I would think twice before using Dr. Dean R Carpenter or Foundation Surgery Center.

In for LAVH BSO - Dr. Carpenter said it would be about 1hr and 15min. and I would stay the night at the Foundation Surgery Center. It was close to seven hours, a bladder repair and 5 days in the hospital!!! Dr. Carpenter was to make 5 small cuts for this surgery. I was cut from my belly button to my just above my vagina. He hit my bladder and it had to be repaired. I had lots of pain!!!!! Had a catheter in my side for just over two months and a drain tube that was a source of a lot of pain and I still have some pain. When he spoke to my husband and daughter-He said something about not doing the surgery after seeing the adhesions on my abdominal wall. What a blessing it would have been if he stopped! He came to the hospital that night and a few times after and never said anything like I'm sorry or I know this is hard or a lot to deal with! Nothing kind was said!!!!!!!! I slept and sat in a chair for over two months in pain. We have to pay all the bills from the all day… surgery,Anesthesia,five days in the hospital, and two doctors! plus out of work all that time! THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE!! THEY TELL YOU THINGS CAN GO WRONG BUT THEY DO NOT TELL YOU NO ONE CARES IF THEY GO WRONG!!!! NEVER BE THE SAME :(

I read the last review on Dr. carpenter and I strongly disagree with the lady I went to Dr. carpenter for both of my pregnancies and he was always great and all the nurses were very nice and helpful they try and get you back fast and they work with you etc. I would recommand them to anybody that ask every office visit was great.

I am currently pregnant with my first child. I typically would prefer a woman OB/GYN but my Fiance set up the appointment for me not knowing. I thought I would give it a try, you never know.I saw Dr. Carpenter a total of 3 times before I decided I would be much much more comfortable with a woman, and maybe someone a bit younger. I thought the Dr to be rather abrasive and not helpful at all. Never having been pregnant before, obviously I would be unsure what to ask. He would treat me as if I am completely brain-dead when I would ask him questions. And at one point my Fiance asked him what we could do for back pain and Dr. Carpenter's response was "Don't get pregnant", completely straight faced. The best way I could describe this Dr. is to compare him to Eeyore from Winnie the Poo. It seems as if the man hates his life. I would strongly suggest retirement for him. I decided to go to a different Dr. I called and requested Dr.Carpenter's office fax me my records release form. The woman was… a little rude which I thought was strange, saying "Well you should have gotten this when you were here yesterday".. But I laughed it off. I called my new Dr. and asked if I faxed over my release if THEY would fax it to Dr. Carpenter's office requesting my records.I work for a Dr. So I understand perfectly how this works. Dr's can charge you for your records. Very silly yes, but they can. HOWEVER, most Dr.'s don't charge other Dr's when requesting records. Which is why I asked my new Dr. to do this for me, And they had no problem with this task.About a week & a half later, I called my new Dr's office to ask if they received my records. Luckily I talked to the same woman whom I was talking to when I first called, she said she hadn't, and said she would call and see what was going on. Long story short, a little over 2 weeks after my records were requested, and 3 phone calls later I haven't received my records, containing the information with my blood work, pap smear, ect. Which is all very important for my new Dr. to have. Now, the office manager is having to call Dr. Carpenter's office to find out why they won't. What I gathered from what the assistant told me is that faxing over paperwork takes "time" and they are short handed. They also wanted to know why I didn't want to see Dr. Carpenter any longer, which is none of their business if I don't want to disclose that information, even though I did write on the records release that I preferred a woman. They made it very clear that the only way I was going to get my records was if I came and got them personally. It seems to me that the assistants, or maybe Dr.Carpenter himself doesn't really care about their patients. You would think they/he would want them to be 100% comfortable, and if a patient would rather see another Dr. to be comfortable well then so be it. What I am taking from it is that they want me to pay for my records, which I find to be a little pathetic. Not to mention holding records is illegal.I wouldn't waste your time here. Also, just to let you know. I couldn't even tell you my due date. He touched my stomach and guessed how far along I was. A week later I had an ultra-sound & the tech told me that I was a month further along then the Dr. "guessed", Never was I told my new due after that. So when I went to see my new Dr. She was a little shocked that I didn't even know my due date. I work at a Dr's office as I said previously, it takes less then 5 minutes to take paperwork out of a folder, insert it into a fax machine and push some buttons. If they keep their records on computers then it takes even less time. I will never recommend this Dr. to anyone I know, and I will make sure my insurance company DOES NOT pay this Dr. if I don't receive my records. Why should they get paid for doing work that isn't benefiting me whatsoever?
