Dr. Dennis Charles Eckel, MD

Where to start... Dr. Eckel is the reason my husband and I have a healthy baby boy. At 22 wks pregnant, I required surgery to remove a mass on my ovary. It was scary to say the least - & obviously not a common occurrence. Before my surgery, Dr. Eckel reassured me that everything would be fine and my baby would be fine. He was right - the surgery went well & our baby was unharmed. I went on to be pregnant for 16 more weeks before having high blood pressure & feeling very off about my baby’s well-being. Because Dr. E got to know me as a patient he sensed this too and made the call that we needed to get my baby out. He was right yet again. “Mother’s intuition” is what he called it but I call it being a good doctor and recognizing when your patient is not well. That evening he delivered my baby safely into the world via c-section. I’m not usually one to write reviews, but this man changed my life forever. Having a baby is scary... when originally signing up for an OB I thought “piece of… cake... they tell you to push - you push - poof you have a baby.” Luckily, God was looking out for my naive self when I signed Dr. Eckel up to be my doctor. He’s not only warm & approachable, but he’s knowledgeable, professional, & quite frankly a rockstar at bringing life into this world. He should really just say “mic drop” every time he delivers a baby.

I began seeing Dr. Eckel in 2008 while in the first trimester of a pregnancy that followed three previous miscarriages and serious health issues. Dr. Eckel not only saw me through that healthy, successful pregnancy, but also through a second successful pregnancy two years later. My first delivery turned out to be an emergency C-section (and, as a result, the second one was a scheduled C-section). I have only good things to say about Dr. Eckel and about my experience at Valley OB/GYN overall. His bedside manner is great and his knowledge and follow-up has been outstanding. He has always taken time to listen to/respond to any concerns I've expressed and seems to genuinely care about me as a patient. I have also had good experience with the staff there, and the office is always clean and professional. Additionally, the OB insurance/billing coordinator is fantastic and there is on-site u/s capability, which is very convenient. Dr. Eckel also ordered a more detailed, specialized… ultrasound at a fetal imaging center due to my advanced maternal age and previous medical issues. He also always encouraged me to come in for a non-stress test any time the baby wasn't active or moving. I appreciated that, as well as the fact that he always completely respected our decisions (for example, to forego certain genetic testing, etc.). I am still a patient at Valley OB/GYN now, even though our family is complete. As an aside, I travel two hours each way (from Payson), and it's worth every mile.

I have been seeing Dr. Eckel for over 15 years now, and I just love him! I drive 30 miles each way to his office, which says a lot. I have laughed & cried with him many times, and can't imagine having any other doctor as my OBGYN. He's just the best!

The office staff at this location are extremely rude and incompetent. They schedule you on different dates then you asked for but write down the date you asked for on your appointment card. When you arrive at the wrong time as your appointment card stays and show them their error, they laugh! Dr. Eckel is a decent doctor. Generally there is about a 45 minute wait to get out of the waiting room and a 45 minute wait once you're in a patient room to see the doctor. Then, he is out in about 2 minutes. After 10 years, I decided to find a new OB/GYN who did not over schedule themselves so much and with a better office staff. I left mid-pregnancy. It ended up being a great decision. A patient shouldn't have to set 1/2 a day aside for a 2 minute OB appointment with a doctor who is average.

I have been with Doctor Eckel for a few years now for both gynocologic problems and OB need and he is just amazing. He takes the time to explain everything to you and has good bedside manner. I just love this doctor. He seems to really care about his patients and want to do right by them. I highly reccomend this doctor. The staff in his office are also very very nice, and helpful. I even had the doctor call me personally for an issue I was having instead of the nurse. Great great doctor and person.

dr. Eckel is one in a million. His bedside manner and sensitivity are unlike any physician I've met. He makes you feel at ease and answers all questions. After 24 years with him he still is wonderful.

He brought me into this world when I was a child and he also brought my little brother and sister in too. He turned into my personal OB and brought my son into the world and is now going to bring my number two in! He is not only caring but he knows what he is doing. If he doesn't know something he will get an second opinion which in my eyes he is making sure everything is going to be ok. My 1st c-section scar healed so well that you would have never known I had one. His staff in the front is currently new so I know it's hard to get an appointment but once they know there is a problem they work to fix it. Great office and just a great doctor!

Dr. Eckel has been my GYN for 14 years and my OB when I decided to have children. He was there for all 3 of them. He is very knowledgable and caring. His bedside manner is perfect. Thanks Dr. Eckel for all you do!

Dr. Eckel performed my hysterectomy in 2010 and he is the best. I had the quickest recovery because I had all my questions answered before the actual surgery. During my follow-up appt when my meds had to be adjusted, Dr. Eckel responded swiftly to things I hadn't realized were of a concern. His PA and nurse are both fantastic. He is difficult to book an appt with, especially an annual ( 9mos-year), but definitely my choice of Dr.
