I am 53. In 2007, at the age of 45, I was diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Since that time, I have had 7 major surgeries in conjunction with the treatment of my particular brand of vascular disease. Two have been to save my life, and three have been to save my right leg from amputation. The others were either treatments for partial blockages to my right leg, or in one case, to partially repair a number of hernias associated with the scar on my abdomen from the AAA bypass operation performed in 2007. Dr. Muehrcke became my surgeon in 2010, when he performed the first of three arterial bypasses on my right leg. In at least one case, the blood flow to my leg below the knee was over 95% blocked, and blood flow past the groin was 90% blocked. Dr. Muehrcke saved my leg. Not once, but three times. Although he has since advised me that further surgeries to repair or replace the arteries in my right leg are not possible, and that the next step for me there is amputation, … I absolutely, without hesitation or reservation of any kind believe that I am able to walk, and still possess both of my legs, because of his skill, and his surgical abilities. If you want to live, or, if you want to keep a limb, there is no better surgeon in the state of Florida, and perhaps in all of the southern U.S. Derrick may not possess the greatest bedside manner, but his abilities as a surgeon are world class. If I ever find myself in need of life saving arterial surgery, and am close enough to survive the trip to St. Augustine, Fl., I will travel in order to have Dr. Muerhcke perform my surgery. I trust no doctor more.

Quick view of problems and recommends decisive action as needed.Office staff is caring and try's very hard to keep pace with the pacticoners in the office. I would recommend the Dr and will trust his consult for any other procedures that I will ever have .

Dr.Muehrcke is one of the finest cardio Thoracic Surgeons in the world. In 1999 he performed a triple bypass on me at St vincents Medical Center. Jacksonville Florida.
