Dr. Derek James Orton, MD

Never introduced himself. Judged me as he walked in the door focused on hip problem instead of my spine problem. Offered no assistance or help. Left with nothing, feeling hopeless. It was a waste of time and money to see him.

Explains everything at an understandable level. Great personal repoir and freindly attitude.

Waited over an hour. Seemed disinterested. Read reviews before I made appt. Based on mostly great reviews I was very optimistic. Told me to go back to pain mgt clinic which I've been going to for 20 years. Maybe just having a bad day but this wasn't at all what I expected .

Has been honest and listen to you when you ask questions and pleasant attitude.

Dr. Orton has been my doctor for several years, this will be the second surgery he has performed. He has always been so helpful and really listens to my concerns. His schedule is really full but understood how much pain I have been in so he has rearranged his schedule to perform my surgery in less than two weeks. I am so grateful to him, I feel like he is saving my life. I would tell anyone who wants a good honest doctor, go and see Dr. Orton.

Great doctor- personable. Can be difficult to make appointments, have to call multiple offices.

Dr. Orton saved me from the most excruciating pain of my life...and that is being said by someone who has given birth to 2 children. He performed 2 surgeries on me after physical therapy and ESI injections failed. I'm so happy he is young as I know I will need to be cared for by him for quite sometime. Dr Orton was the only person that was able to correctly diagnose and find my spondliotheysis. He is a very conservative doctor that is focused on excellent results. He did my L3 spinal fusion, and I would say he is one of the BEST surgeons that I have ever had in my life. I have had over 17 surgeries due to racing motorcycles, and Derek was amazing. Strongly recommend him to anyone with back problems, he is a genuine person and took the absolute best interest in me that he could. He left Duluth, MN and went back to Milwaukee and that really saddened me, because I miss having him around.

Dr. Orton listened to me, explained what he was doing on physical exam as well why. He asked questions, gave me the opportunity to ask questions and discuss my concerns. The treatment plan was arrived at together. When conservative treatment was not relieving my pain, Dr. Orton did not hesitate with the next steps. My surgery was scheduled for the next day, and the pre op as well as post op care was excellent . I have already and will not hesitate to recommend Dr. Orton to friends and family
