Dr. Dev Kamdar, MD

Dr kamdar has been 100% on top of my medical issues. His office has moved thing along faster then expected. He has called me direct to answer any questions I have had.

Dr Kamdar is the worst Dr I have ever been to. I was diagnosed with a throat tumor by my neurologist and I followed up with Dr Kamdar for a surgical consult. He sent me for more MRIs (I already had 2 prior to my visit with him) and it hs now been almost 2 weeks and he still won’t call me back to give me the results. His front deak staff said he doesnt call past 5pm when the office closes. I’ve been calling him for days and had my new Dr I will be following up with call to try and get the report so I can find out if I have cancer or not and no one will answer or send anything!! This is complete negligence of a patient! Will be filing reports if his office will not give my new Dr records.

I have not seen Dr. Kamdar for over a month as he was out of the country. Upon his return, I received a call from his office that he wanted to perform my procedure in five days. I had gone for a second thyroid scan which he requested and it came out differently from the first. Dr. Kamdar has not even discussed the second scan with me and he wants to rush to surgery. Why hurry like this?

Doctor Dev Kamdar was unfortunately the worst doctor I could have had my first consultation with. After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and asking him what he suggests I do he literally said to me" At the end of the day I am going home to my family, so its up to you" AKA basically saying whether you live or die it has no effect on me because I get to see my family at night. He said this to me 2x. When I asked him about the 1% occurrence of permanent voice loss he said to me its 1% but it can still happen (which is fine, the truth) HOWEVER when I said I know it won't happen to you when your operating on me! He responded with "I am glad you have that much faith in me"!! Unbelievable. No re assurance what so ever, horrible bed side manner. The other 2 opinions I got were so nice and took time to answer my questions and gave me their opinions. There wasn't one opinion he would give me he was so useless whenever I would ask a question. Trust me there are many qualified doctors and even… if he is qualified I would never know because he is NOT reassuring at ALL. At the end he even said "ok anything else?" like he was in such a rush! Please if you are already nervous with your diagnosis the last thing I would do is consult with him. I walked out feeling worse.

Dr.Kamdar was the most genuine, sincere, and professional person I’ve ever met in the medical field. I was a 22 year told man with a paratoid tumor and Dr.Kamdar made me feel completely comfortable and confident from the moment I walked into this office until my last follow up after surgery. If you are a patient of his, you are in good hands.

I am a recent patient of dr kamdar. For my initial appointment I had to wait an hour and a half. My surgery at LIJ was delayed 3 1/2 hours and I not given any explaination, just waiting in the pre-surgical area. For my subsequent post-surgical visits with dr Kamdar he ALWAYS ran late. And he doesn’t even apologize. For my first pre-surgical appointment I also waited for an hour and a half, second appointment, one hour, and third appointment 2 hours and 45 minutes!!!! I even called the office prior to leaving my home to see how late he was running. I was told it was about an hour. When I got to the office I was told I wasn’t in the schedule! But I had a voice mail in my phone from a week before which I played for someone in the office proving I had an appointment. When I was brought back to the examination room I still waited for another hour. When Dr, Kandahar came in he looked at my incision and said, “it looks good,” I replied, “That’s it??? I waited over 2 1/2 hours for that??” His… reply, well I am a head and neck cancer doctor and if I have to spend an hour or so with patients I do. So now I’m healing. Do I think he’s a good surgeon? I don’t know. My case was not as severe as some I guess he does. I hope I heal well. But if you value your time and you want to be treated with respect GO TO SOMEONE ELSE.

THERE ARE NO ZERO STARS THAT IS WHY I CHECKED ONE STAR. WHEN YOU GO TO A DOCTOR YOU EXPECT THEM TO TREAT YOU AND DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO SAVE YOUR LIFE AND DO NO HARM AS THEIR OATH STATES. A DOCTOR IS SUPPOSEDLY TRAINED TO GIVE YOU MEDICAL ADVICE ON +++++ ALL++++ ASPECTS OF YOU DISEASE AND TREATMENTS BECAUSE THAT IS WHY YOU ARE THERE. WE DID NOT GO TO MEDICAL SCHOOL! THIS DOCTOR WAS GIVEN THE TRUST TO DO THE WHAT WAS MEDICALLY NECESSARY, MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS, EDUCATE THE PATIENT, COMMUNICATE WITH THE PATIENT AND FAMILY. WHEN THE DOCTOR DOESN'T TELL YOU HE MAKES DECISIONS ON YOUR TREATMENT BASED ON A "TUMOR BOARD" OF DOCTORS THAT DON'T EVEN TREAT YOU......BIG PROBLEM. WHEN YOUR WHOLE TREATMENT IS BASED ON WHAT A "TUMOR BOARD" DECIDES WITHOUT CONSULTING YOU THERE IS A...BIG PROBLEM. WHEN THE "TUMOR BOARD" ONLY MEETS ONCE A WEEK AND YOUR DOCTOR DOESN'T GET YOUR CASE IN FRONT OF THIS "TUMOR BOARD" YOU LOOSE PRECIOUS WEEKS IN YOUR TREATMENT...... BIG PROBLEM. ESPECIALLY WHEN… YOU ARE BEING TREATED FOR AN AGGRESSIVE CANCER.......BIG PROBLEM. WHEN YOU ARE TOLD ON WEDNESDAY THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BE OPERATED ON, THEN THURSDAY GIVEN YOU SURGERY DATE, THEN MONDAY BEING TOLD YOU ARE NO LONGER OPERABLE....BIG PROBLEM. WHEN YOU ARE TOLD IF YOU DO NO MAKE YOUR FAMILY MEMBER A DNR (DO NOT RESUSCITATE) AND PUT ON "COMFORT CARE" OR THE HOSPITAL'S ETHIC COMMITTEE WILL TAKE YOU TO COURT TO DO SO........BIG PROBLEM. WHEN YOU RESCIND THIS DNR ORDER BECAUSE YOU WERE COERCED AND THE DOCTOR GETS IN YOUR FACE TO PUT BACK THE DNR ORDER OF THE HOSPITAL'S ETHIC COMMITTEE WILL TAKE YOU TO COURT TO DO SO.......BIG PROBLEM......ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY IS NO THE TRUTH.....BIG PROBLEM. WHEN YOU TREATMENT PLAN CHANGES SO MANY TIMES BECAUSE OF WHAT THE "TUMOR BOARD" DECIDED AND YOU LOOSE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR SURGERY TO SAVE YOUR LIFE......BIG PROBLEM. WHEN THE DOCTOR DOESN'T LISTEN TO THE PATIENT AND SPOUSE BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEIR BODY INSIDE AND OUT......BIG PROBLEM. WHEN YOU HAVE TO BURY YOUR SPOUSE BECAUSE YOU KNOW THIS DOCTOR AND THE "TUMOR BOARD" FAILED........BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH NO SOLUTION. ONLY LOSS DUE TO DEATH. I WONDER IF VITALS HAS THE DECENCY TO KEEP THIS REVIEW, THIS COULD POTENTIALLY SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE.

Dr Kamdar came out after my 8 hour plus surgury and met with my family to discuss the procedure And when he did he had on his clogs from the surgury and we hen he told my family everything was fine they were worried about him in his clogs A wonderful dr but a better hu.an being

My sincere, brief advice stay as far away from this doctor as possible. He had diagnosed third stage throat cancer in my wife and was rushing biopsy. We took her to Memorial Sloan Kettering,NYC, and they thoroughly examined her, and did her throat scopy on two consecutive weeks, did her CT scan and are of the conclusion that it's not apparently cancer.
