Dr. Diana Ija Skirk, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Skirk's for a while now. For the past few years, she has had an MA that had horrible bedside manner, always talked about her personal life. Luckily, she no longer works there and has been replaced by someone (Shannon, I think is her name) who is more professional than the other MA was. Keep up the good work for the new year and new help. Don't do anything with Tish though she is awesome too.

I phoned Dr. Skirk recently regarding my husband’s meds. She was weaning him off a memory pill as she thought it might be causing his rash. He had been on that medication for about five years so it did seem unlikely. After about 8 days, I wanted to know if he could go back to the dose he had been on as I could see that he was losing memory. The office took all the info and said the doctor would be in at 9:30 am. She did not return my called and I called back at 4:40 pm and was told she had been too busy to look at her messages. She never did return my call which I find unforgiving and want others to know that she is not the type of doctor you want for anyone you love. The memory my husband lost will never be recovered. She is not a true professional doctor, in my opinion. Shame on her!

I have been a patient of Dr. Skirk for 3 years after moving from another state where I underwent treatment in neurology for a head trauma as a result of being rear-ended in a car accident at 40mpm while stopped at a red light . I find Dr. Skirk to be very patient and understanding and she has always provided whatever time I have needed without being rushed for not only treatment, but to answer any questions as well. While during my time as a patient in this practice there has been changes of the physical office location as well as some chances in staff. One particular stand-out staff member is Tish. No matter whether I call or am physically at the office Tish goes out of her way to handle what ever you ask of her with professionalism as well as a smile and a great disposition. I have personally had some issues with my insurance provider from time to time and Tish has always gotten to the bottom of things. As for Dr. Skirk, as I stated previously, I have personally found her to be… compassionate, thorough , and professional and it was through her persistence on my behalf that I was finally diagnosed properly for an additional issue and under went surgery for what resulted in a form of a brain tumor. I was dismissed for months being prescribed rounds of antibiotics and told I had an "ear infection" in spite of my disagreement and persistent symptoms which were not even slightly getting better with multiple family medicine practitioners. Then on to a Ear Nose and Throat "Specialist" who ran more tests, and prescribed more prescriptions and agreed with the previous diagnosis with an added " it's old age" remark(at 54 ? ) as to why I wasn't hearing clearly and my head was not feeling right. I can not give enough thanks and kudos to Dr. Skirk for listening to me and not dismissing my complaints and concerns as the previous practitioners did reminding me that "they were the ones that went to medical school" and therefore their degrees trumped my intuition for concern. I have never encountered any negatives to report in my review from Dr. Skirk or her staff.

She takes all the time you need to get to the source of your neuro issue. Very professional and caring. The staff is the best.

I saw Dr. Skirk for a migraine that has been persistent for days. She was very caring and listening to everything that I said to better understand my complaint. Her staff is very knowledgeable and very sympathetic with patient's who have migraines.

Not honest. Not caring. Plays with billing $ to suit her needs. Do not trust.

I think the front desk staff really needs improvement on attitude. I've been going to Dr. Skirk for 7 years now, and the front desk staff has always been rude. I am down to once a year visits, and I know that they can't tell me what the doctor is going to be doing a year from the visit what she'll be doing at the next. I get that. But they have "forgotten" to call if her schedule changes, which has left me once driving 45 minutes to Melbourne to find out she wasn't there, that she was on vacation and the staff neglected to call me. They admitted that my name had "slipped through the cracks." When I went back in, I told them that I wasn't paying my copay, that my husband had taken the morning off of work the last time, and it had cost him leave time, and me gas for a wasted trip. They didn't say anything about it, and didn't even mention the copay. I guess they wrote it off.There was another time that she was working in the hospital (not with an actual patient, just there), and it had… been on the schedule for months. Again, no phone call. "Oh, well someone answered and hung up, so we just didn't call back." I showed them my phone there in the office so they could see that there was no call made to my number. Professional courtesy should say "try again, just to be sure."Dr. Skirk, herself, is polite. Seems to listen to what I have to say. I have no choice but to take the kids with me, and she's very understanding of that, which makes my appointment that much easier on me.

I was referred to Dr Skirk by my PCP, whom I have relayed my experience with. Dr Skirk is rude, she rolls her eyes when she thinks your not paying attention, she performs unnecessary tests and has no interest in the patient, only what she can bill for. I recieved copies of my "office notes" and they were fabricated, things she refers to as being discussed were not discussed, and I am reporting her to the State board as well as medicare, and the Insurance boards. I hope they nail her for overbilling and falsifying medical records.

This is by far the best neurologist I have ever been to. She actually takes the time to talk to you and find out what is going on. Did the right testing to find out the problem. Highly recommended! 5 star rating!
