Dr. Diana J Walleigh, MD

My child had an appointment with this "physician" for a complex medical condition. She started off the appointment asking my child what she wanted to get out of it. She didn't want to hear anything about her medical history before treating her and prescribing medication that have terrible side effects. I insisted that she listen to her history because I believe its important to understand what led up to her condition. She became agitated, began tapping her foot rapidly while I spoke and clearly wasn't paying attention to what I was telling her. When I read the notes in my child's chart, they were an inaccurate account of what I reported and she mentioned that I "served as an independent historian". She also noted that she couldn't find notes to show my daughter was ever seen in Neurology at Children's hospital (she has been there for several visits since she was very young). I've been a mother longer than she's been a doctor. She based my child's prognosis off of ONE study conducted in… 1985 by a couple who "followed patients with the same condition". I also have access to a medical library and can discredit nearly everything she told me through studies that I have read that were founded on actual evidence based medicine. If I could give her zero stars I would. She also told us that she is able to give very bad news to people with basically no care in the world. So if you are looking for someone who is open minded, keeps up on her education and has compassion for your child's neurological disorder, this is the very last person you should ever trust with your child's medical care.

We LOVE Dr. Walleigh. Our neurologist before her was an absolute nightmare. She listens to our concerns and addresses them promptly.

She has a horrible attitude. I saw her twice back in 2017 and she decided to chew me out for no good reason the second time. I was having seizures and put on meds by a doctor who I saw before her. I wanted a second opinion so I went to see her. Without any testing she told me it was all in my head. She called me on the phone to argue with me which was very unprofessional. Little did she know I recorded her. I tried talking to superiors about how she treated me and offered to let them hear the recording but they backed her without even listening to me. They just said well she’s a doctor as if that justifies treating someone badly. I then went on to a better doctor who diagnosed me with a rare genetic mutation that affects a potassium ion channel and causing me seizures and tremors. I am glad I got away from her. She may help those who have face value Epilepsy but if you have something else going on or something harder to identify she will just grasp at straws and shove credentials in… your face. She tried to make me feel awful about myself and make me feel that what I had going on was my fault. It was not my fault. Dr. Walleigh was wrong. Please don’t send your child to her. I don’t want to see her attack any young impressionable minds who won’t be able to handle bullying. Overall I believe she might have narcissism that holds her back from being a good doctor. A good doctor can accepts that not everything is necessarily known That it takes trial and error to figure out some disorders and diseases. That medicine is not just a practice but a science with many unknowns that have yet to be discovered. Medicine is constantly evolving. If you need reference of a good doctor read the New York Times column, “Diagnosis.” You will be inspired. Dr. Walleigh needs fired to say the least.

She was nice when we had our 1st appointment with her, but then became a bully when we didn’t agree with her options for treatment on the 2nd appointment. Rather than listening to our concerns, she ran through her list of credentials as a Child Neurologist, as if that would make us feel any better about our concerns.
