Dr. Divya Chirumamilla, MD

I had a torn ligament in my hip along with lower pack pain, to the point where I could barely walk. She has this machine where is targets exactly where the pain is and gives a shot right in the spot. It’s been two years and my back pain is gone and the shot in my hip allowed me to heal properly and now I have my life back. She is literally a life saver! If you have any concerns go to her first and if you need surgery she can recommend excellent surgeons, but Dr. C should be your first place to go to for recovery.

I have had a laminectomy and fusion in lower lumbar. After the fusion I developed sepsis. A couple of months post multiple clean out surgeries on my back, it begins to shoot pain up spine, muscle spasms in lower back and shooting pain down legs. After her exam she told me that she only does shots and does not prescribe medication. She ordered an MRI to see what is going on. Waiting for the appointment to review my MRI. Very unhappy with the first visit. She did refer me to a doctor that does prescribe pain medication.

If you want any type of consideration as a patient, I suggest you not go here.

Don't expect anything more than a shot in the back. If you need any type of medication or anything additional, you can forget it! The office staff is terribly rude. Don't see this place making it & that's a shame!!!

I have been a patient of Dr C's for almost a year. I have found her to be very knowledgeable and patient. She gave me through exam and took time to review my medical history with me. This allowed me to explain/comment on my medical history. She suggested a non-invasive procedure to address my lower back pain. i had about 30% reduction in pain for 6-8 months. In my follow up appointment she has laid out a plan to continue to reduce my pain. I have been very satisfied with her and her staff.

"Doctor" Chirumamilla works at the Arnold Warfield Pain Center at Beth Israel Deaconess. Their website advertises that this is a place where they will take the time and find the right experts to find the source of chronic pain that other doctors have not been able to. For over eight years I have had progressive worsening of pain stemming from a blow to the back of my neck which starting causing autonomic nervous system problems. As a result I had several more accidents including a fall which fractured my femur, and a roll over car accident breaking 9 ribs. My orthopedic surgeon reported in his records at the same hospital that I had gross deformity of my right knee and osteoarthritis. At the same time an endocrinology consult revealed that I have osteoporosis at the age of 30! I described how the panic and anxiety from pain and autonomic nervous system fluctuations have progressed so much that I hardly leave the house and am now on SSDI. Dr. Chirumamilla refused to address… more than one issue saying "let's focus on the most serious one - the neck." When I passed a cursory "shut your eyes and touch your nose" type of exam and walked a straight line her solution was to see a psychiatrist. After insisting, she reluctantly ordered a C-spine MRI (no contrast) and refused to scan my back or address my leg (which has 8 pins in it). My MRI results returned showing "multiple degenerative changes" involving at least 5 vertebrae while noting the possibility of more damage that couldn't be seen due to "a motion artifact and lack of contrast." Meanwhile I looked at my records from my visit with her and she quoted the wrong report about my femur/leg. I returned for my follow-up appointment 3 weeks later. She walked in and said "Great news! Everything is fine!" I pointed out everything the report said and she minimized it saying "everyone gets degenerative changes as they get older." ONCE AGAIN, I'M 30! I also pointed out that she looked at the wrong report about my leg. She said "I don't claim to know more than the orthopedic surgeon." I said "I didn't say that. I'm saying you didn't quote the right report." She ignored me. I kept asking if there was any other test that could be done and she meanwhile wrote a referral to a psychologist and told me not to stand him up as she walked out. I also feel I should point out that at both appointments she had someone in a fellowship program examine me first. Both of the fellows seemed very concerned during the initial exam but then, after leaving to consult with her, nodded along as she told me there was nothing wrong.

Incomplete history, exam by trainee only. Dr. Chirumamilla only came in room briefly to supervise trainee. "Treatment plan" was to stop medication that was working well. No alternative pain management methods were offered.
