Dr. Douglas Neal Beaman, MD

After suffering an intertrochanteric hip fracture from a biking mishap, I had the good fortunate to have Dr. Doug Beaman as my surgeon for a hip Trochanteric Nail Fixation. I can enthusiastically say the operation was a total success. My femur is still in the healing process, but since the operation, there has been little pain and minimal scarring (hard to even tell there was two incisions). After seven weeks my hip feels great. I've had two checkup visits at MCMC Orthopedics and each time found the staff there wonderfully attentive and extremely competent. Dr. Beaman himself is caring and compassionate, always taking the time to explain post-operative care and answer questions. I couldn't be more happy with the care I'm getting.

In 2015 (it’s 2020 now) I jumped off a pdx overpass into heavy, flowing traffic. I’ve never been a solid decision maker, from the time I was a kid. A number of doctors treated me, these reviews relate to those who worked on my feet/ ankles. Dr Gellman at Summit Orthopedics (N Pdx) fixed my broken feet first. Gellman is an decent guy - a little intimidating, not so personable, and very good - he worked hard to repair the damage I caused but finally referred me to his Summit Orthopedic partner, Dr Beaman. Before seeing Beaman though I instead went to see Dr.Galle at Westside Foot and Ankle in Tigard. Dr. Galle and his office I would recommend to no one. The surgery he performed on my left foot was useless. He removed a little bone from my little toe in an attempt to fix a big problem. And he made it seem like it was my only hope. When he recommended amputating my toe, I stopped listening and met w Dr Beaman. I liked Beaman immediately. He’s funny, in a comforting way, and… you get the sense he’s really good at what he does. When he said, “I think I can fix this,” I believed him. My most recent foot surgery was performed by Beaman and the work was artistry. If you break anything that he can fix, see him. Even if you have to travel a few hours. This guy is that good. I now walk with no pain. Finally, I can’t say enough about Dr Gellman’s and Beaman’s medical assistant/ office manager, Ala. She manages the office efficiently and knows exactly what’s going on. Dr. Galle‘s office staff is just like Galle. One of them even left me an aggressive voicemail when I was late paying a bill. I owed $75, $50 of which was for items he insisted I purchase even though the hospital provided them for free : ( Go see Gellman or Beaman certainly. Galle, I’d avoid.

I spent a lot of time arranging medical information transfer to him for a phone consult as I live 4 hours away from Portland. Phone appointment set for Nov. 19, 2018. He never called. Such unprofessionalism and arrogance. Today, Nov. 20, 2018 no call of explanation. I guess my medical needs do not meet his standard.

I visited Dr Beaman for a broken ankle & torn ligament - he was highly recommended and for good reason - he is the "Dude" to see for getting you to recovery - seemed thorough and knowledgeable and experienced. Great to talk to and communicate with also.

Dr Beaman is kind and competent but to get an appointment is extremely difficult. Due to my insurance restriction on him, he is only at the authorized location once a week. It takes a week for them to call back. He was not very clear about instructions on my care at home.

In late 2002, I incurred (!) a trimalleolar ankle fx with dislocation. I was put back together in emergency surgery by another outstanding ortho doc. After a year - and due to the severity of the injury - my ankle wasn't back to where it should be. I was recommended to Dr. Beaman for further analysis. Awesome recommendation because he took the time to explain my options and I was fully informed regarding the path I chose to take. After distraction surgery (external fixator), alot of physical therapy - and now it is 8 years later - I can say that it was successful. There are some limitations and I have had to modify some activities, but w/o his intervention - I believe that I would have significantly more issues. He and his staff were exemplary in their care - he paid attention to what was going on and was dedicated to my successful recovery. In the lower extremity ortho world - he is a total rock star and I recommend him at every opportunity.

I had visited several orth'. surgeons over a period of 30 yrs. All had concluded there was nothing that could be done to correct my deteriorating CMT right foot, which by age 47 had become quite debilitating. As a former distance runner, hiker and bicyclist, I was frustrated and ready to try anything! A local orthopedist put me in a steel ankle brace and referred me to Dr. Beaman in 2001, as "the guy who can fix it if anybody can". Dr. Beaman promptly diagnosed the problem and recommended possible surgical solutions. I had three stages of surgery between '01 and '06, the last involving use of an adjusting external frame for 4 months. Now 5 yrs later I consider the results to be outstanding. I can basically do anything I want on that foot again with no pain and greatly improved stability. Dr. Beaman and the clinic staff were always prompt, friendly, listened, and always seemed truely interested in my condition and improvement. I have frequently recommended him to people I… encounter with foot or ankle problems.

In 2008 Dr. Beaman reconstructed my right foot after it was completely crushed by a horse. Doctors in my area, Willamette Valley wouldn't consider reconstructing it nor would another Doctor in Portland however, Dr. Beaman was optimistic and willing to do so. He did amazing! Love him and his staff!

Dr. Beaman saved not only my husband's leg but his life. All other doctors had given us no hope. Dr. Beaman is kind, caring and gifted. We will always be in his debt.
