What a waste of time. I saw the nurse practionor as I was a self pay for 175.00. He asked me "what was I doing here, forget me perscibing benzos (I wanted to get off them and wanted him to give me a prescription for a lower dose as I had pills 8X's the dose and he would not do it!). Makes no sense to me. Tells me "we all need a little anxiety in our lives." I'm sorry, I'm here for anxiety that's crippling my life you a**. So instead of continuing my plan to get off benzos he wants to put me on MORE drugs with worse side affects. That will be the last time I go there and I won't follow his recommendations to get a anti-seizure dangerous medication. No compassion either. I suggest seeing a real psychiatrist even if you have to wait. This is what healthcare has become people.

The reason there are so many people addicted to drugs is because of places like chessen and Associates make it hard for people to get help for drug abuse by making them pay when they don't have the money to go and by making them pay to go to the group sessions that you require them to go to and a lot of other reasons too. I'm sure you haven't seen your reviews online and they are not very good. And I know several people that go to Rite path Treatment Center and also used to go to Riverside behavioral and they're completely different from Chestnut so to see if they really care about their patients and do everything they can to help them

Uses NP a lot and Dr. only really comes in to sign scripts. Does not spend much time at least with stable patients. Was spoiled by last doctor I had I guess.

Everyone in this office is very nice and pleasant. I personally have had the privilege to have been seen by the best Med-Check person ever. I loved being able to talk with Gayle on my visits to get my medication. The front desk personnel Ms. Jackie and the other receptions were very welcoming.

Worse doctor ever rookie name pelin duzenli I seen there kept leaving out the room for 5-7min at a time than she can't half talk she makes u feel bad like your condition is your fault and u should b n a mental hospital..I would not recommend her to any 1

I would never trust Dr. Chessum with helping me through therapy again. I do not trust that he has his patient's best interests at heart.

I can't believe no one has mentioned how Dr. Chessen's nurses do all the grunt work of the appointment, then they call him on the phone or page him to come into their office to pretty much just say "hi" and sign your prescriptions. The nurse will give him a quick (30 second) summary of what's going on with you...you don't even really get to talk to him. He's in and out of the room in less than 2 minutes. I changed psychiatrists and when my new psychiatrist was going over my history, he asked how I had liked Dr. Chessen. I told him that I never saw him for more than 2 minutes at each appointment and my new psychiatrist said "I've heard that--a lot. He says he uses the 'Orthopedic Model' to run his office."

Just a fair warning, Dr. Chessen does not prescribe medications for ADHD unless you first pay $100 to take some sort of computer test to prove that you do, in fact, have ADHD. I, myself, work in the mental health field, and I have never heard of a computer test to diagnose any mental illness. Doctors should be able to spend enough time with their patients (<2 minutes with Dr. Chessen) to diagnose them the proper way with the DSM-IV. In addition, the office staff is rude and hung up on me when I needed to reschedule an appointment. Then, to add insult to injury, the next time I went in for an appointment they had the audacity to charge me $50 for that missed appointment, saying that I never called to cancel. I would just steer clear of this office altogether. You can do better.

As a patient for well over six years I never had any problems with this office until recently. Having issues with opiates I choose to seek help and did so with the psychologist that I was familiar with. Dr. Chessen and his nurses take apx ten min to validate writing scripts for anything from anti depressents to suboxone/opiate partial antagonistic drugs. Having gone to this office for so long I was sure that my healthcare team was familiar with my background info and personal trials... not so! I found out the hard way that my doctor has no idea as to what my personal trials are, what personality challenges I have or had in the past, or even what negative habits I have or have not overcame... yet they/ my doctor and assistant's have written scripts for evertything from anxiety to depression to anti-psychotics,etc... you name it and I have probably been offered or tried it for some time.

My experience with Dr. Chessen is that he is very impersonal. An appointment is made with him but when you get there you see one of his assistants. ...
