Dr Perreira is gentle and soft spoken but definitely knows what she’s talking about.. she is empathetic and shows caring by taking her time for questions and explaining everything. Was having trouble with my wrist and thumb due to arthritis and received shots every 3 months for many years until it stopped working. Was referred to Dr. Perreira and she operated on both. 5 months later, I’m without pain and using my hand normally. Very grateful to Dr Perrreira!

Dr. Perreira ruined my hand for life. She didn’t order an X-ray, ultrasound, or MRI prior to my surgery and operated totally unprepared. It was suppose to be a ten minute surgery that ended up being almost an hour. I only signed the consent form for her to remove two ganglion cysts and instead she operated on all of the tendons in my hand and overly tightened them to such a degree that I now have very limited range of motion. We had several follow up visits after the surgery and at the last one she told me there was nothing more she could do for me, that another surgery to correct the damage she did to my hand, was not an option. She then said she was going to refer me to a hand therapist, but she never even sent this “referral” in! Do NOT trust or have Dr.Perrierra operate on you or you might end up like me - with a permanently disabled hand!

Dr. Aimee Perreira has been treating me from August 2022. She and her staff are amazing doing great teamwork. Upon my arrival for surgery at North Hawaii Community Hospital on September 21,2025 I was treated with caring professionals reassuring me I would be okay.From Arrival and Discharge I couldn’t ask for more. I followed her instructions and did my after surgery appointment with her kind staff in the office. I am now back at work and appreciate all who cared for me.

From the first time I met Dr Amy Perreira, she made me feel so comfortable that I could ask her anything about my problem and she answered all of my questions and showed so much concern and empathy. I am so happy that she is one of my Doctors from Island Orthopedics and I feel so confident in her ability to help me with my arthritis thumb and my upcoming surgery to remove the bone that has bone spurs on it and extremely painful.
