Excellent surgeon, excellent care. Had major surgery with Dr Willkomm. Showed urgency, care, and took the time to thoroughly explain everything to my wife and me. Terrific follow up post-op and again, took the time to properly evaluate next steps and advise on path forward. Great bedside manner. Shout out to PA Kristi who has also been excellent throughout the process.

Had outpatient gallbladder surgery three weeks ago. Everything went very well. Dr. Wilkomm is an excellent surgeon. Has a pleasant bedside manner as well. Thank you, Dr. Wilkomm.

Dr Wellkomm was the one bright light in my nightmare experience that began with a broken shoulder after a fall and ended with him successfully removing a very damaged gall bladder. He managed weeks of in home and hospital care until it was safe to do the procedure. He takes time to explain everything, he listens to patient’s, and he clearly cares for the whole person- not traits normally associated with surgeons. I highly recommend him and the wonderful nurses at the Venice Englewood Surgical Associates practice.

I was referred by my Gastro Doctor to have a hernia check. I thought that I might have a muscle pull in the groin that had bothered me for over a year. Turned out to be an easily diagnosed hernia. Told by Dr Willkomn I could wait or proceed with the surgery and he explained the surgery to me in detail and showed me pictures on his phone. He has a great bedside manner. Impressed. I chose to go ahead and his office staff processed me quickly and efficiently and gave me more information. He did an excellent job with the surgery but I spent all day at the surgery center in Venice Hospital trying to urinate on my own, only to end with a catheter to empty my bladder, but I did not need to keep the catheter in me. I went a number of days with extreme discomfort trying to urinate but his staff nurse got back to me to tell me that was normal and to go to emergency to get a catheter if I needed to do so. Turns out that I did not need to. But, every step of the way either Dr Willkomn… was with me or someone on his staff. The Venice Hospital outpatient was also very professional and good. I went back for my post op 1 week visit today. Again, Dr Willkomn was just great. Showed me pictures on his I phone of my exact surgery. Sent me on my way...... I will go back to him again if I need more surgery. He dose many types as he is a general surgeon.

I recently selected Dr. Willkomm to remove my gallbladder. At age 70+ this was my first surgery ever. I researched his background … medical school, years in practice, ratings on websites and discussed his approach to treatment with some previous patients that I know. He was extremely competent, easy to talk with, knowledgeable and pleasant…all without any "superior attitude". He explained the surgery in simple terms, the expected outcome and any possible side effects or recovery issues.

Had emergency surgery by Dr. Willkomm and couldn't be more pleased. He was professional, had good bedside manner, knew exactly what needed to be done, and have since learned of other patients of his who feel exactly as I do.
